Brake Pad question....

2211 Views 29 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  rockler
I'm looking for reviews for Vesrah brake pads. I never heard of them and may get a good deal for them. I checked their site and they do make racing brakes. I'm currently using EBC HH's and they're great. But eventually I'll be needing brake pads and figured getting it at a good price now would be good on my wallet.

Let's say the EBC HH is a 10, what would the Vesrah be?

Thanks.

If you stunt, they probably put in the HH's. The shop I priced them handle alot of the street stunter crowd.

BTW, closed the deal for $35 shipped for the street. Too paranoid for the race version.

i think thats what they use
The race versions being used on the street will "glaze" because they aren't being used hard enough. This will effectively lower the pads ability to produce friction, and your ability to stop...not fun. I've ridden with glazed pads and it's scary shit.

Yeah I wound up not getting the race one's. 35 buckaroos for 4 pads aren't bad. Too bad I already have pads that are still good, I want to try them out.

You got the calipers too, right?
nah, just the pads. I seen he listed the calipers sold over there. Unless he's throwing them in for free.

I think someone else bought them I remember seeing some one looking for SRAD front end stuff.
Good thread back from the dead. I've been running EBC HH's since I bought my current bike. I sanded my rotors to get rid of the old pad material and scuff em up nice and frictiontastic for new pads but might just go back with EBC's. Only other pad I consistently hear good reviews of are the Vesrahs. Anybody want to add?
EBC HH seem to be the standard in this world.

Where I used to work we sold Carbone Lorraine brake pads and they are the shit. They are a french company that makes pads for trains and airplanes and shit. They are awesome pads though, everyone we worked with used them on their street bikes and race bikes, and we DIDN'T use all of the shit we sold. Everyone described them as "consistently progressive".

There were 2 popular compounds, the SBK compound, aka high performance street pad, and the C44/C55, which was a true race compound.

Like endo said, you can't use a race pad on the street. Lots of squids would call and try to get "race" pads, and we had to constantly weed them out and explain to them that they will be disappointed in how they perform on a streetbike, no matter how fast and/or retarded you are. The ones that we didn't weed out would always call back and complain that the pads sucked. Real issue is they never made it up to true operating temps.

A good high performance street compound used on a track will just wear out too fast, a true race compound used on the street will never get up to operating temp, and will not bite very hard at all. Then like endo said, they will glaze over and get truly dangerous.

Over the half the people on my local forum are Ricky Racer weekend track guys and I've heard the Carbon Lorraine name thrown around. Might try em out. Hope the bedding in process isn't too involved. I never quite manage to do it like the directions say.
ive used ebc hh eversince. never had any other pads available here in the phil's.
