Converting an old xl250 to 100% street and swapping on some slightly shorter and stiffer rear shocks to compensate for the smaller wheel that will be going up front


Skinny ones are original.
Fat ones are some freebies off a cx500 that a coworker parted out 10years ago...

Can I just cut off a bit of that extra meat to get them to fit the xl's mounting points?

Street rubber on 18's for this little old 250 will be fun :D

I wouldn't go beyond the welds in the center of the eyelet but I would hog them puppies down proper and run 'em hard. That old steel they used to make shocks (and the welding practices used as well) are the tough stuff of the era, that's for sure. ;)




Wouldn't catch me doing that to modern aluminum shocks though. :LolLolLolLol:
