so i checked through many pages in the search field like a good lil newb so i think it warrants this thread maybe?


so what do you guys prefer of the three cans
feel free to post any pics of said cans

i know i personally have a Scorpion Carbon that i Modified to pass inspection
its ok but im open to options since i have the serpentine idea floating in my noggin

also any tuning characteristics and advantages and disadvantages would be enjoyed as well

Not a huge fan of carbon because it doesn't go with everything and titanium is just money I could spend elsewhere so I would choose stainless. Stainless looks good, fits pretty much all paint schemes, and is generally cheaper then the other two.

I like the idea of Carbon, but that's due to the weight issue and it looks good by itself. I'm going to have to say it'll depend on what bike it'll be going on and how well the material will blend with the bike. If the entire bike is carbon then I would say mix it up a bit and go with Ti or polished stainless. just my $.02!

carbon fiber and titanium cans weigh about the same. Aluminum cans will be about 1/2lb heavier. SS is about 2lbs per square ft where a similar gauge aluminum would be just over 1/2lb per square foot.

carbon for the win. ti would be nice, but to modify it would be painful. stainless is good, but heavy

I've never used anything except stainless. so I couldn't tell you about the other except they cost a hell of alot more. And this might be a throw back from the old days but I'm partical to a megaphone system, I just think they sound the best and if tuned right make good power.

stainless as you can actually modify it (IE: need end caps Tips and such Even Different baffles) easily and be able to weld it

also polishes nicly
Dont know much about titanium other than pain in the ass to weld and can possibly stress fracture in exhaust applications ( as one of the guys at Welding brought his friends Race Pipe from a 2 stroke to fix some stress fractures )

I'm partial to the aluminum cans. They're pretty light compared to the SS and cheap. Ti seems like you're just showing off. I've checked a couple of the carbon cans and it seems that alot are just aluminum cans with a wrap.:wtf: That's where I got the idea to do my own "carbon" cans.

Had some Ti pipes on my '05 FZ6, TwoBros M2 I believe. They were lighter and had a satin finish which looked better to me than the polished Aluminum cans. Sounded damn good on that bike as well.
I've seen quite a number of Carbon pipes fade/turn yellow.

lol, encouraging negative behavior. you can make your own can out of stainless/alum. Finding a Ti welder is gonna be a chore I'd think. Anybody know how hard it is to machine ti? Comparable to easy-to-machine stainless and 6061?
