In the meantime I have noticed that the first petrol tank builder is not the professional he claims to be. Got 8 !!!!! Places found with holes. My current welder (not a man of many words) closed it again even though the sheet steel was very thin.

I then had sheet steel strips welded on edge .............

So one page done. It continues with the other side and then the rear has to be adapted to the petrol tank.

One more reason to learn to do all the jobs by myself. I hate it when you are paying someone to do a good job and it just makes fun of you...

So I have to report again. The last step was to adjust the tail to the tank. So exactly this point:

I made molds out of Styrodur and filled the whole thing with fiberglass.

The direction was already there, but the result was not quite right.

So again a couple of small layers filled up to change the direction and the strength.

The result was already much better !!!!!!!!

Furthermore, the petrol tank continued. Unfortunately it was still leaking. I think the first who built the tank was probably a manufacturer of sieve. In total I am now at 32 holes. I hope it's quiet now!!!!!

Since the weather isn't playing along at the moment, I applied the epoxy primer with a roller.

It doesn't look pretty, but the tank still needs to be filled and sanded because after all the welding it's just an egg.

After the first sanding, a better mood slowly comes up again.

Das Wetter wird langsam wieder wärmer. Danke Gott !!!! Ich habe angefangen, mich um den Fahrersitz und vor allem um die neue Grundplatte zu kümmern.

Zuerst 3 Lagen Fiberglas.

Food Ingredient Cuisine Wood Powder

I prefer to build my seats from cellular rubber sheets. Simply awesome material. But I also have nothing against a nice Alcantara seat.
But with cellular rubber I do everything myself and don't have to beg anyone!

I've roughly carved out the shape here. So that the seat fits snugly against the fuel tank.

I will now grind out about 4mm of the marked part. This is roughly the thickness of the seat base plate.

Then the whole panel is glued into the cellular rubber with power glue. Many power clamps helped with the necessary pressure of the bond.

Already looks great. The glue is now left alone for 3 more days and then I could carve/sand the seat into its final shape.

Well, it's been a long time, but something happened again.

I had already primed and sanded the parts. However, up until then the weather hadn't cooperated and secondly I was still looking for a suitable place to paint.

Finally I asked "fighterchris" if the parts could be painted in his garage.
He has a small paint booth with heating and extraction in a garage.

He agreed. I got my parts to him. The next day I was allowed to pick up all the parts except for one part, because Chris had found the smallest mistakes and bumps everywhere.

I could have puked.

Always little things.

I've found that a large part of it is my crappy lighting in my garage.

Of course I couldn't get the parts finished. Then I lost the desire to continue with the parts and then there was the two-week vacation in Greece.
But last week we sprayed another layer of epoxy resin very cleanly. And a day later we already applied the red.

Sanded the last part today because I didn't finish yesterday.
Then the areas that should remain red were masked.

Then the adhesive tape was misted red again.

After that it became a lot of work for Chris. I always cleaned the paint gun and Chris would paint the parts as he had far more experience.

So first mist red, then clean the spray gun. Then paint everything mouse gray and clean the paint gun again. Then apply clear coat and clean the gun one last time. And all this in the heat !!!!!!!

At the end, Chris was completely sweaty and my respiratory protection filter was completely clogged, so that I could no longer breathe.
