Spent a whopping 15 mins DW this evening. Actually it was more like 10 mins fucking around and 5 mins work. Anyway I did the world-famous carb float bowl vent hose mod. Basically rerouted the vent hose from some valve thing to the air box where it can be pressurised by the ram air.

Here's a quick pic of poor quality taken using the webcam on my tablet...

The small hole in the centre of the pic is where the vent hose enters the air box.

Got some plans in the works too. I ordered a new Viper can from a warehouse in the UK. It cost a mere $156 shipped to Aus. For a brand new can. Fuck yeah! Nek minnut I find a wrecker locally with a full yosh system for $300 so I might get greedy and snap that up too. If I put an exhaust on my exhaust then the bike can be exhausted while it's exhausting.

Next on the list is a respray, then get the seat re-covered, get some new risers, more braided brake hoses, then keep riding the fucker!

Peace out!

I forgot to add... I got a new coolant catch can cos the first incarnation with the 250mL bottle has proven to be too small by leaking coolant out of the overflow on every ride. New can is 500mL. I'll take a pic outside during daylight, not that it's particularly exciting.

And in some retarded news one of my staff was pissing himself laughing at some young dudes who were checking out my bike in the carpark at work. One says to the other "Hey dude, check this bike out, it's awesome! See that hole in the frame? That's the intake for the turbo! And see this bottle on the side? *points at coolant overflow tank* That's NOS! This bike is fucking sick!"

Next is the awkward moment where I "lol" at my own story...

Lol!

Been looking for a painter. There's a dude in town who specialises in bikes but mostly he does custom Harleys in bright candy colours which makes them look like carnival rides. Then there's another paint and panel shop which will take on bikes but is not cheap.

Then I found Revhead Pete. He's about 45 minutes drive out of town so I'm gonna drop the tank, tail, and fender off to him and collect in a week. This link is one of the bikes he's built and painted. I think I'm onto a winner.

In other news the Yoshi system I found has a few dings and a scratch. Price has come down from $330 to $220. Only problem is it's a 4 hour drive away so my sister who lives nearby is going to pick it up and bring it down in a few weeks. If the scratch is as the seller describes then I can see a full Yosh system with shorty can in this Kawasaki's near future...

:D

Hey dude!

You think that air box mod might be the answer to the flat spot in the acceleration?
I´ll do this mod tonight when i´m replacing my old spark plugs and air filter, too bad it´s still snowing here so i can´t test it until march...
Absolutely my man. Before this from 5 to 7k rpm there was such a big hole in the power delivery, like all the horsepower had jumped into the nearest ravine.

Now from 5 to 7k rpm there's a bit of a dip in power but the bike will ride it out on full throttle. Couldn't get over 7000 revs before without closing the throttle a bit.

This thread in the beginners section had all the info I needed. You might find it useful too.

Well it turns out Revhead Pete the painter is pete1100... Small world eh?

Here's what he got up to this afternoon:

Dent in tank, crack in side panel, and split in fender have all been fixed. Everything taken back to bare metal or plastic. Primer down.

The fella sure deserves some rep for the quick work! And I'm totally envious of his workshop!

oops, re-read post#31

Looking pretty good man, that can will do well on there. What about the tail? Keeping it OE?

Yeah Burt, keeping the tail OE. I'd like to go all out but skills and budget don't stretch as far as imagination. I'm saving my pennies to splurge on my old Gix.

Dr Jelly, you can relax. The can is unmolested and unused except for when I tried to play it like a didgeridoo... Funnily enough that didn't work as the sound was muffled! The black can in the pics is the stocker and will find its way to the nearest bin once I finish cleaning up the rest of the bike. Got lots of sanding and polishing to do yet and I don't want the new can to get dirty.

Just bought these headers off ebay to replace my rusted-to-shit ones. Saved $60 on buying headers of similar quality from wreckers in Oz. Woot!

I was gonna buy a full Yosh system from a fella up in Brisland but after a few weeks of emails and then getting no replies I guess he's found a way of staying in business without actually selling anything...

Hello!

I finally got around to do the air box mod, just got one question. I found and rerouted the vent tube into the air box, but there are four more tubes coming out beneath the carbs and the engine. One of those was already plugged and one was still attached to the valve thing, while the other two disappear into the engine somewhere. Do i just plug the other ones aswell? G'day Ninja buddy! in your pic on the left you have the hose connected to the t-piece which you need to plumb into the airbox. I just plugged all the other hoses with a few screws and I threw the valve thing into my junk box in the corner of the garage.

Does that help?

Hey Cooky how is things going? I have been having a look around here every now & then & thought I would start a build thread for my ZXR 750 in here & came across your thread, What a coincidence you started your build thread here on the 18/09/2012 & I stated mine on the same day on the ASF forum

Also just wanted to mention a better place to get fasteners / nuts & bolts etc too, Bunnings is not really the best place for that, They have some good deals on Kincrome etc tools though every now & then
This place below has or will get just about anything you need in stainless etc too, + they have panel beating & painting supplies & lotsa power tools etc
See the short bloke in there with the pony tail & he will look after you>
