finally got it delivered. pretty clean for it's age, but i'm already thinking of how to cut the hell out of it, heheh.

DEFINATELY have to lose that yellow. not bad for $500 though.

yeah, i'm diggin it. found a place that sells a 442 piston kit, they clain 70-80 hp with it, but that's a hell of a jump (20hp) with just a 3mm bore.

i'm going to swap the fork lowers with a set of f3 lowers i have, so i can run dual disks and a 3.5" rim on the front, and try and get an sv650 swingarm, gsxr shock, and a 5" f3 rear rim on the back. then ditch the bars and the bikini fairing. got a line on a dirt cheap ducati monster seat too, waiting to see if that goes thru.

should be a cool lil play toy when it's done.

wait... this was supposed to be for the g/f...lol....

lol, i'm gonna get a biiig roll of header wrap, and a new(er) aftermarket muffler, and that'll take care of that.

the whole bike needs a good cleaning, but the paint on the frame/arm and the plastics is almost brand new. gonna be a shame to lay a coat of flat black over all that shiny yellow, :D

oh it will, very soon actually. i'm kinda stuck on the cr500/hawk project for a while, so i figured i'd play with this one a bit. new rims, new suspension, new rear end. most of the parts i already have. that's the only reason i could do it. i'm friggin broke!!

found it locally on craigslist. the cdi was shot (common problem on these), so i was taking a chance by buying a bike i couldn't hear run.

little searching around the local salvage yard, and i found a cdi that works. it's actually not a bandit cdi, it's off an old kawasaki, but it does work just fine. it was also only $30 :D

been playing with it already, swapped the crappy tube bars for cbr600 clip-ons, ditched the guages, made some new brackets for the headlight, etc. going to make some suspension links at work tomorrow to jack up the rear a lil bit. still trying to decide whether i like that bikini fairing or not. it does look alot better with it sitting lower on the bike, with the clip-ons, but it loses some of that "down-n-dirty" fighter look with it on. i may just lose the whole setup and mount some small twin-spots (very small), we shall see.

got a bid on a monster seat too. i "borrowed" the seat from that
M800 that's at my shop to get chjopped, and it looks MEAN on the bandit. the upper rail of the bandits subframe is just 2 flat pieces of round tube, and is almost the same width as the monster's seat. fit's like a glove, i'd just have to trim down the back of the subframe and rig up a tail light of some sorts.

at least it's keeping me busy while i'm waiting on what i need for the build off bike. :D

hey skrooze can you make offset dogbones? I need one lol

define "offset dogbones"

you mean you need something with a "z" shape"?? or a big single link like a honda uses? depending on what you need, i may be able to hook that up.

since this thing doesn't really have much power (yet) it's going to be set up as a corner carver for me (along with a ride for the ol' lady), so i went with clip-ons over the tube bars. looks alot better imo.
i'll keep progress pics coming. if i keep this up, i'm gonna have to trailer all the bikes to the build off get together!! :D

and yeah, that's my living room, lol.

hmm, i could make links like that, the problem is that with a bend in them, that'll be a weak spot. is there any way that you could space anything and use straight links? they'd be MUCH stronger. i haven't looked to closely at how you did the shock linkage on your bike, but i did notice how long the mounts were. is there any way you can get me a nice clear pic of how your linkage is setup? might be able to help you out with that.
