So I checked in and then disappeared without leaving pics, and of course, everyone wanted some, so I'll fire it up right now. This is my current project, and i've been working on it for TWO YEARS!!!!! and it's only in bits right now:mad: which should tell you how much time I have to work on it. Anyway, she's an 80 KZ1000 MkII. I'm dropping in an MTC 1075cc with 10.5:1 comp and some web cams, nothing too wild. Adding forks and mono swingarm from an '01 GSXR750 and a whole lot of other mods.
These pics are of how it looked before disassembly. I rode it for 10 years or so with it looking like that, then I got punted off the road by a dumbassed kid in mom's car and I stopped riding for a while.

I'll post more later, but I'm at work :nono: and need to upload pics from home.

I'm very interested to see this build. More pics!
Guess I better get to work then!!:D Right now I'm doing the mundane crap: cutting unnecessary tabs and supports from the frame, welding in frame bracing, bead blasting engine bits, etc. I can put some of that up, but may wait until I have something a little more interesting like fabbing up the monoshock and building the motor.

Are you going to use the original tank? I'm a big fan of the 74-78 KZs.
Actually, this particular bike is an 80 MkII, so it looks more like this:

I realize that. It is my understanding that the tank from the 73-78 fits (I've read about guys with the older bike using '79, '80 frames from the shaft drive bikes because they are stronger)

I've seen pics of that bike before. I love it too!
