If its clear, can't you see inside it? Do you see a ton of small bulbs or just one bulb or what?

well its not perfectly clear..its cloudy i guess or white...and when you hit the brakes it just turns red...but i dont see the regular two bulbs or a thousand little ones.

Usually (but not always), if its an LED light, you would see the individual bulbs. Not because its the only way to make it, but because people usually want other people to know that they have an led tail light. But, that isn't always true, with the leds recessed and a good reflective housing, you would never know by the glow. Your best bet, is to let me look at it, and I'll tell you what it is if I can figure it out! Are there any numbers or letters anywhere on it?

so i took it all apart. it is LED. all the wiring is still intact, and nothing seems loose or rattling around. not sure. maybe something needs some re-soldering???

anyone know how to do some light electrical? or have the tools??

test light, soldering gun?
