Hey guys I need some help getting my bike set up for dirt track.
I've got a xr650l with a 91 cr250 front end.
I cut the fork springs 6" and took about an inch or 1 1/2" out of the rear spring. Now the bike is at the height I want it. I know in the front I need to put spacers in to keep the forks from over extending. Where exactly am I putting the spacers? Has anyone lowered forks internally before?

Are all fork springs progressive rate?

Oh, in answer to the original question, from my understanding the spacers go above the spring.

I don't understand how that would work. If I cut 6" off the spring then put 6" spacers on top of the spring then I would end up where I started only a lot stiffer. Can anyone clear this up for me?
