So, I guess since I finally ponied up for some advertising via sponsorship here and at another site.....I guess you could say "DougZ Customs" has taken birth.
I have not sold a lot of stuff yet...but I am happy to report that the business is starting to pay for the bike mods and what not...and I am no longer using the money from my "normal" day job to pay for bike stuff. Of course, outside the fighter parts here and there, the rest of the money is being put right back into the business...paying my suppliers, ordering materials, buying packing materials and labels...printer ink...and what not...not to mention shipping costs....LOL...the automated shipping machine at the post office is working out great.
The website is up and running...although I am still small enough, that all order have to come through email and paid by Paypal....or money order I guess. I just bought. " www.dougzcustoms.com" from Godaddy.com.....ofcourse...I am having trouble getting it forwarded to my webpage: home.comcast.net/~dougzweb/DZC.html
The G/f and I even made up a couple T shirts up from Avery Iron ons...with AB's supplied logo art work...thanks bro. Of course, we put them on all crooked and crap..but they were just testers anyway.
So, I have been thinking about all the bike builders out there, and the cheesy TV shows and what not, and how they started out. Most, from what I can tell, started out selling this or that kinda parts...and used that money to pay for the bike building. I am sorta doing that small scale. I haven't made enough yet to even pay for 1/6th of what my bike build is costing me..but I have only been doing it for a couple months.
I guess,in reality, my Gix street fighter build, will be the first "DougZ Customs" bike..started from a couple trashed motors and a boat load of spare parts...not to mention some wicked custom parts coming in. The bike will prolly take me me months to finish, and when all is said and done...I doubt I'll actually wanna sell it.
Either way, if I sell it or not...I am already planning my next build....its def gonna be a hard tail chopper style bike...semi cafe racer'ish. So long as you aren't going for a 200 or bigger rear tire..frames and front ends can be had cheap.....I already have some Ebay tins, and a gas tank that may work. I'll find myself a nice wrecked sporty, and use its motor, harness and electronics.
So, I have no idea what the future holds, but I wanna say thanks to all have ordered and I hope to keep being of a service to the biking community.
