I am starting this thread so we can all help protect each other a little bit.

Basically, if you've ever been ripped (or do get ripped off) buying bike parts from someone, either a store, a website, on ebay, whatever, or even on service at a shop, custom work, paint, whatever... post it here to warn our members!

Try to give as much info as possible, including the name of the company or person, where they are located, even their website and phone number if you have it. And of course, tell us the story of how they screwed you.

I hate seeing people get ripped off. I hate it even more when Custom Fighters members get ripped off, so let's all help each other out and make sure it doesn't happen often!

My buddy Joe got burned at a local bike shop REAL BAD. They charged him $140 to adjust his chain because he didnt know how (new rider). I seen the bike 3 days later and the chain was so tight, I stepped on it and lifted myself off the ground. The chain never moved and Im 180. I fixed it for him and he insisted on givin me $40, he wouldnt take it back.. Some people got more money then brains I guess

i fucking hate most bike shops...usually a bunch of money grubbing hackers

im 100% with you. which is why i learned to do all of my basic shit, and now some more advanced stuff.

i think one of the problems with bike shops is that they get SO many assholes in them who treat them like dirt, that it kinda takes the fun out of it and they lose sight of why they were there in the first place.

My boss is an awesome guy, our techs are (mostly) all nice guys, and so are (almost) all of the people who work there. but still sometimes nice people dont get the treatment they deserve b/c some asshole just came in and ruined it for everyone.

so...little tip here for ya...if you go to a bike shop, esp to get service done, be EXTRA NICE so they remember who you are and/or how nice you are when theyre workin on your bike.

Yes well put. It is frustrating dealing with ignorant people all day, who for sum strange reason think they can turn their brain off before coming in or picking up a phone. And it does take its toll on you but keeping you attitude up after a day of that is tough especially for me:angry: :cool-smiley-030: ok sir can I help you now.

Going into a shop for service is tough id say 80% of the people are short on patience thier bike is dead and they are pissed. Then they want it done imediately if not sooner. And when parts are BO its totally your fault that Honda ran out of some obscure clutch part for your V65 Magna that was on the road before I was born.

that will never happen lol

my problem with the bike shops is the mentality....they do not want to help out real bikers/motorcyclists...people who do not trade in their brand new liter bike in every year and spend thousands on after market part at the same time...

You walk in to get some support on a 15 year old bike that you are trying to customize or upgrade and because it isnt in the book they cant..or in some cases won't help you out....I'll take my brothers 90 fzr as the example....he wanted a bigger tire...there are hundreds of people that squeeze a 150 (i think or 160) with little issue...we had a problem mounting the tire and setting the bead. They helped for about 10 minutes until the manager looked it up in the book and saw that wasnt the correct tire size...done everyone stopped helping...dicks we brought it back the the place the tried to mount it...they pulled it off and chrissy remounted it herself..and it was on...and it awesome on the bike...the original guy pnched the bead under a lip in the rim...all it took was remounting it...we were ready to pay for teh remount at the bike shop but they wouldnt touch it....

the dealers do not want to talk to you unless you are buying a new bike with the high dollar after market accessories....

rant doen..sorry lol

Mike and StreetFighters USA have been taking orders and payment and not sending parts or returning calls. I think they shut down thier site too. BITCHES!!!:fire:
I did a little googling, and found a LOT of other people with the same problems you're having:

Such as:

Ordering parts and not getting them for 6 months!!!!

When you call, they give you the run-around...

They never call you back...

They never email you back...

BUT...

Here's the good news, apparently they do seem to eventually get you what you paid for, it just takes a very long time, so I don't think you got ripped off completely, it's just going to take 10 times longer than it should!

Yeah, from the looks of it, they were ignoring posts trying to get their attention on there forum. Alot of unhappy customers. Then there forum went down for "maintenance" and never came back up. Now, I can't get there main site either. Of course, that's when i went looking and found this forum. :)

Believe me, I understand this rant, 100% but I have to comment :D (not doing it to be a dick, just a different viewpoint).

In this event, we would refuse to do the job as well. Granted, we're smart enough to check the proper size first!! It's a wonderful word called liability (ESPECIALLY for dealers). Rim size dictates tire size...if the manufacturer specifies a 180mm tire, use it...putting on a 190mm won't make it wider, it will make it taller and messup the intended profile...I know people do it and some say it works better, but I don't pretend to know more than OE engineers. If a shop puts on a tire size other than what is recommended, that OEM will not back you on your decision and you can all but kiss your license good bye.

In other news, we see a lot of older bikes, as we are one of 3 shops in our area that will even touch a bike older than 10 years. We have lots of aftermarket suppliers for parts and accessories and we pride ourselves on the fact that we know what we're doing.

i find that living in the country that invented the term streetfighter
it's surprising it ever got off the ground, i live in uk

if you need trick parts either germany or usa best bet

we have some great enginneers over here but the market isn't profitable to be sustainable you find a good one every so often but they keep going out of business, the only ones that stay in the trade are the ones that ripp off.

i have had some bad dealings in past
on one ocassion i had a tail unit transplanted but when i fitted plastics it was offset to rear wheel, when asked why was told frame was bent bs and any way the price i was charged was budget so what did i expect. What an answer to be given for shoddy workman ship, i aint going back there. £270 for a job i should have done myself.

i tend to get ideas from a number of sources then find out how to do

rear view camera system a case point a ready made option would have cost £300-400 i rigged up one for about £120

gps another point tom tom standalone £399
use a nokai 6680 with a gps reciever about £180 and u can also make phone calls

might sound cheap skate but its more fun than just bolting bits on that anyone can buy.

;)
