I wouldn't really worry about it too much, gets pretty dirty under the bike but you would have to have something pretty big hit you to do any substantial damage, you could fitt a belly pan to protect pipes and engine but that would be even more subseptable to damage from road debris :cfcartman:

get a belly pan and get it coated with rhino lining or line X so you dont have to worry about rock chips!

That's a good idea if you're worried about that. I don't think you'll have any major problems...as far as safety...just leaving it open. Scratches & chips happen if you're gonna ride though...no matter what. CHEEL OUT....make harmony with the dirty rough world...we all have scars, are our bikes so different?;)

I know of some bikes that have the nice fiberglass under bellies...they really look nice, however, they all report having the problem described as being even MORE susceptible to damage. Most of them don't make it long before they're cracked, chipped, or otherwise pretty obviously marred.
Myself...I'm way too hard on equipment to worry about that kind of thing too much. I'd just send myself to an early grave worrying & stressing over it if I did.:LolLolLolLol:
