Has anyone made their own fork spring compressor?

I've never seen one so I can't fabricate a copy for myself. I am more than certain one can be fabricated for less than $25. Some of these tools retail for more than $125.

I've seen it done with all-thread and some nuts with a rigged up steel plate.

I had the same dilemma. Either build my own or shell out the cash. I picked up some square tubing that would slide snugly together. Welded an L at the bottom of the small tube and welded 2 tabs at the top of the larger tube. Drilled and tapped the 2 tabs for bolts. Then used a long threaded rod and some bolts to compress. Worked really well for under $10 in materials!

Crappy pictures:

i tend 2 use some elbow grease and a couple of drill bits, not entirely proffessional tho lol. In my mind the best way to make 1 is to have a half section of tubing or a hinge that you can close round the slider with two round bar pieces welded in place and two handles.
