i have a 02 gixxer. I crashed it this summer and decided that over the winter i would turn it into a full fledged street fighter. well when i took the head light and front fairing stay off i discovered a problem. the neck of your frame has two tabs on it one on top of the other to attach the fairing stay well the top on came off wiht the fairing stay(so there is a hole in the front neck of my frame where the tab is supposed to be) my question is does that affect my bike structural integrity or should i just be able to weld it back in because it is pretty much a clean break the piece fits in perfectly thank you:confused:

im no frame expert either... i know that an insurance company would definately total that shit.

but...if money was an issue (it is) and insurance company calling wasnt an option (prawly not after this long) id see about getting that welded up.

Ive got a 2002 GSXR 1000 frame, the head stock was twisted, but you may be able to get it straitened cause it hasnt got any holes or cracks

have an expert and a cheapskate expert both look at it.

itd be great if you could save some money, but not if its gonna cost you your life.

if it's just the Fairing Stay tab, those come off all the time...

so do the engine mounts. (ask me how i know :LolLolLolLol: )

Check Stuntlife.com - there's tons of guys who just weld & go...but most are "parking lot" guys.

I say your decision comes down to cash flow and your personal risk tolerance. it'll cost about $150 to get the frame measured, and about $500 if it needs straightening.

I'd just weld & go, but that's just me.
