I hacked the rear end off earlier. itlooks SICK!!!!!!! maybe have pics tomorrow.

I started making a pattern for the rear end and started taking measurements for the swingarm brace. I have to find some scrap before I can start fabricating either the brace or the new subframe. in the mean time I am taking off everything I can and doing the 2 piles thing.

I also took off the exhaust today. I already knew that cylinder 1 was running about 30 degrees cooler than the other 3. but when I took off the pipe there is allot more oily buildup in the header on pipe one. this makes me think I possibly have a blown piston ring. I was hoping it was just a sticking valve, but it doesn't look like it. darn it.

cant wait to see the pics.

sux about the piston ring, but better to find out now while you have it apart, than later when its all put together and blowin oil out the tail pipe.

pics are getting closer. lol. I actually took them today, but I can't upload them yet.

I will be posting pics of some of the mods that I have never seen before. anyone is welcome to copy/steal/borrow/aquire my ideas if you like them.

I slid the fork tubes up in the tripples about an inch. it looks pretty sick. (but if anybody feals the need to give me a set of newer forks, then I will gladly ditch the old forks in faver of building a custom set of tripples)

a big tip to anybody out there that is modding a bike with the old style aluminum reseviors. attack the top of them with a belt sander or file. there is enough material there to smooth all the lettering off the top and make a sick looking resevior cover. and, its a free mod.

I also have the subframe almost finnished. its all tacked together, haven't got it finnish welded yet. it looks Sick though. I lifted the seat so that the line of the bottom of the seat lines up with the bottom of the tank and also lifted the rear end a little to give it a bit of an attitude.

I slash cut the exhaust right behind the rearset. I was planning on putting a stubby can on it, but it looks so badass that I may just build some internal baffles and an end cap and leave it.

now that I'm almost done with the metal fabrication I'm gonna be moving on to making a headlight unit and a couple pannels to fit in some gaps in the frame. that'll be an adventure. I've never done entire pannels before. it'll be fun.

and the greatest part so far.
I've only spent $18.

I'm lookin for forks and wheels right now. if anybody has an extra set of either you want to get rid of for cheap, send me a pm. I just want something to update it, rims should be 17" so that I can get decent rubber for them (unlike the 16" and 18" on there now). and the forks need to be straight. I prefer inverted.

also, if anybody has a set of pod filters layin around that you want to get rid of, just let me know.

sometime this week I want to drop the engine out and finish the body work on the tank (filling one tiny dent, smoothing around the gas cap, and smoothing the seam around the base of the tank).

any advice for rebuilding my first streetbike motor?

should I replace the pistons? or just the rings?

I'm hoping that the cylinders won't need re-bored, just a bit of honing.

I hope to have it running again in 2 weeks.

also hopefully I'll get the battery tray fabbed up and the bike rewired.

since I have access to a lathe and mill now I thing I'm gonna (hopefully) do some machining for things like the exhaust and grips.
