So, I was hit on my commuter bike awhile back (now only bike); 98 YZF600R - Thundercat, and it's time to do her up right... NAKED!
--------------------------------------

So, here she is AFTER I spent a whole winter fixing what the PO did... Broken fairings covered in Vinyl, crudded engine & carbs, scraped frame and misc other B.S.

Fixed her all up, powdercoated frame, painted her Met Metallic Blue, and rode her like this to and from work (105miles/day) for a little over a year.

Then, a few weeks ago I was hit by some jackasses on an exit here in Tulsa, OK, resulting in me dumping her in the grass to avoid hitting a wall @ 50mph. Good shit... Anyway, I figured why not strip her down and have my way with her.

Sooooo, I'm going to keep the stock seat which WILL look very good if I can pull off the subframe correctly. Pretty much I'm going to have to follow the contours of the underseat and keep it minimal, but have solid support for 2-Up riding. The front I will be fabbing up something a little different, making use of an Angel Eye HID I picked up awhile back. No dirty bars for the moment as the triple is pretty sketchy and I think I'd rather wait til I get the $$$ to do an USD Fork Swap (1st Gen R1 most likely). Got a new set of clip-ons I'm gonna flip with some el-cheapo Pazzo knockoff levers I bought.

Lots of other MISC stuff planned, but mostly it's gonna consist of things to make it tie itself all together. Got some plans to make those UGLY Ram Air holes in the frame look better. I was gonna eliminate them (and still might), but I've gotta figure out whether I can actually get my carbs to not run like shit with PODS, cuz I'd really like to stuff the Battery & Electronics under the tank, hence, I'd need to get rid of the airbox entirely... Damn... I'm just realizing how much work I'm actually getting into. LOL

I'm gonna try and actually take pics of what I'm doing, as I'm pretty bad about that crap, but I know that I like to see them, so I'm gonna be conscious of doing it. I just start doing work, and well... yeah, you know.

And here's where we stand after about 2-1/2hrs of work. Stripped down and already dumping the excess.

With the seat on... Just imagine the subframe following the inner-outer lines of the seat... Mostly hidden. It'll be sweet!

That's all I've got for now. I'll get some more work done this weekend hopefully. Work is taking over my life. :(

Peace!

Hell yeah. That tail is a pain to get to look right streetfightered using stock seat. Looking good. My first Sf build was a yzf600r. I.m putting another one in my shop tonight. I miss it and I need a naked project.

Yeah, I've got a couple ideas to keep it looking more aggressive. It's not really a bad seat, just terrible angle and subframe is atrocious.

So here's what I got done Thursday morning. It was my birthday (thursday) and the last few days I've been visiting the family or dealing with "women" issues, soooooo yeaaaaahhhh...

I kerf cut the upper subframe support and effectively raised the seat angle to a little more aggressive stance. It still fits flush with the tank, so I'm going to finish working out the rest of the subframe and start planning on how to make it 'flow'.

I'll be knocking out a lot more this week. I gotta get my bike back up ASAP. This 15mpg in my truck is killing me... considering I drive 100miles a day. :(

So i bought a miata lol, its a light blue but hey its fun to drive and it gets about 30mpg so i cant complain

For real! I'm about to find a new motor for the lady's old 98 escort. We got around 35-38mpg in that thing. Part of me wants a newer Jetta TDI, but my wallet doesn't appreciate it. LOL

Wellllllll, using the Stock Seat has been scrapped. I decided it wouldn't look mean enough, so I bought 94YZF750fighter's 03/04 ZX6 Tail Unit.

I'll be knocking that out here shortly. Gotta swap a motor into the wife's car here, but that shouldn't take more than a day since my father is gonna drive down and help me.

Updates to follow here shortly. :)

:shocker:what color scheme are you going for in the end cause the dark blue/ black combo is dirty in my opinion. glad to hear there were no hospital trips involved. :shocker:

THanks guys!

I don't know on the color scheme yet... I'll let the bike decide what it wants, you know? ;)

I'm bouncing back and forth on headlight ideas. I love the MT03 (LSL Urban) headlight, but daaaayuuummmm those things are pricey. I've got a bi-xenon light I purchased awhile back for too much $$, so I might build a bucket and slap that in there. I'm trying to think ahead, cuz probably around the springtime I'll be swapping in an R1 fork setup as well as a swingarm. SSSA if I can pony up the cash.

first things first... gotta get the subframe & tail worked out. So many projects, so little time. :(
