Harley or Oil Cooled V-Twin Engine

358 Views 24 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Jackstand Johnny
I'm lookig for a V twin engine(preferably a Harley/Buell) for this Paugho frame we got sitting around at the shop. I'm thinking on using that frame for a custom chopper build in which it'll have a jockey shift so I can ride with my prosthetic. If you have one or know some one who does, no matter what state it's in, than please PM me. I will trade my 1992 GSX1100G for one. Thanks for your time.

buell doesn't make "big v twin" engines

if that Paugho is a big twin frame you will need a big twin engine.

you will need a big twin. where the motor and the trans are separate and you're looking at 2k for the motor alone.
Yeah and close to 1k for a good tranny. Fucking Harley prices. Ridiculous.
Alright Ill rephrase: I need a V-twin Harley or Buell engine. Thats it. Ill take anything I can get. Im asking for members to put the word out cause deals happen. We got a built S&S along with about another $600 in parts a while back in trade for a $3000 build we did to a guys cruiser. Im not looking for a $4000 set up. Im looking for whatever HD or Buell engine and trans I can get for my 1100.
Would an ironhead work for what you want to do?

If you can come pick it up ( Roanoke) I'd let it go for what I got it. $500. No title. Read the thread ;)

the buell does not have a separate trans.. it has a trans inside the motor.

the ironhead doesn't have a separate trans either.

that pancho is setup for a big twin, a sporty engine or buell will not work with out quite a bit of work.

big twin engines run 2 or 3 thousand dollars and that harley tranny doesn't go for 1k i have no idea what the fuck that guy is saying.. but i don't think he knows either. they can be found for 500 bucks used

and its not "harley prices" its supply and demand.

And they get CLOSE to 1k. Not at. And yes a new 6sp is 700. If you're not getting used.

which paughco frame do you have? there are many frames that you can use either engine with. it doesnt take that much to modify one, i have built Big twins into sporty frames and vise versa. shoot i have even been able to get a sporty engine paired up to a big twin trans. it all depends on what you want to do. i have seen more custom shit here than you will ever see at a harley shop

I recant my bullshit call dude, From what i read that is a not a very easy thing to pull off.

looks like you did it to an ironhead. not sure why people would do them to an evo, my advice to jackstand was for a quick flip.. pretty sure the guy doesnt want to get into a project like this haha

i was wrong and i am sorry i doubted you. its bad fucking ass to see dudes doing this kind of work, my hat off to you.
No problem. That is a later ironhead which is pretty much identical on the bottom end as an evo xl 4 speed, and not far off from a 5 spd but I agree go for the engine that'll bolt in and save yourself the headache. Depending on which engine the frame is designed for
