On the air cleaner face of the carb, there are 4 holes and a slot inside of the gasket area. three holes are for screws, and one seems to run up to the diaphram. The slot has a slight curved shape and is at the top. What are these for? i made an air cleaner and realized i accidentally blocked off the slot and left the non-threaded hole open to the elements with my "custom" gasket. (drain gasket from home depot.)

Btw i can't figure out how to post pics here for what i'm talking about, will to post sopme tomorrow if needed.
