Help with a r1?

Hey, I'm new to this but I have a 2003 r1 and I wasn't to put the 1998 r1 tail unit on to it possably put renthelss on an make it naked but does anyone one know I I can just put the tail unit on or do I have to change the rear sub?

You probably have to change the subframe or at least fabricate mounting tabs for the new plastics

Would it be same for a 2007? And would you be able to run underseat exhausts without going over the swing arm?

under seat exhausts are so last year, who wants all that weight so high up at the rear of the bike?

So you recon I'd be better sticking to my original plan with the 4xv tail unit with the stainless down pipes and mid with a shorty gp can just comming out of wher the bottom fairing ends?

Yup the subframe for the 07 is a single cast unit where yours is welded tubing. Better off going the other one they should bolt right up with little modification. I work for a yamaha dealer. If you want to get rid of that tail fairing let me know. I am looking for that year.
