I got this bike back when I was 16 as my second bike, I upgraded from a ninja 250 to this one when I was allowed to ride something over a 250, and I have been slowly customizing it through the years. BUT! Here are the current pics vvvvvvv














Plans are
-SSSA from an 848 that I got for $250
-I already fit the USDs from an 07 r6 that I got for $550
-Finish the custom tail
-Custom tank cover
-powder coat frame, wheels, forks and triples
-A bunch of little odds and ends.


Now the work from today

I pulled off the stock swing arm and put the new one up to it to see how it will fit.



I couldn't get a wider picture because my back was to the wall, and I also forgot to take a picture of how it fits up between the frame but basically it just needs 2 spacers, the width on the left side is almost perfect and just needs a small one about a mm wide, and then the other side needs to be about 20mm. The pivots are identical though so I wont need to change any bearings either. Also the pivot points are a larger diameter than the stock one so I will need to shave it a little since it hits the rear of the motor and wont allow the pivot to go all the way through it.






So the next obstacle is to also figure out the shock setup. The main issue is that the 848 swing used a different setup, plus the space where the shock would go is about an inch and a half shorter than the stock on. also the whole swing arm is about an inch and a half shorter overall, so it looks like I have some brainstorming to do. Hey hey hey! What? You thought this build was dead after the first post? Nope. Some major life events happened and kinda killed any motivation for a while. Its all figured out now and i have the itch again so i did some work today. Didnt take pictures but i got tired of fighting the tail in trying to make it even so i made some cardboard pieces of one side of the tail i made and then duplicated them for the othr side and then removed the part that i built up on the tail and taped my new cardboard one on it. Then i had to go to a church function and that was all i did. Time permitting i'll go lay some glass on the new tail and we can rock and roll from there

Went out and did some work yesterday i started with this minus the foil tape (i dove right in then realized i needed to take pictures)







Then i wrapped the whole thing in foil tape. I figured it would make it easier to take it off. I'm not too worried about the underside right now anyways since this will be a plug and this is my first venture in fiberglass lol.





Then i threw 2 layers of ¾ oz chopped mat on there. I've had about 10 yards of it for over a year and never got around to using it. I used bondo resin also and yes i know i have a lot to sand but i got a palm sander for just that lol.





Trimmed and a little bit of sanding. Some spots didnt stick the 2 layers together so i'll have to fill those voids, i used ALOT of resin also, 12 oz a layer basically lol. So i have a lot to sand away which is good so i can make sure its just the way i want it











Dont mind the mess either. I have a bad habit of using things and not putting them back.

Did more sanding and peeled the tail off the bike. I didnt get a good picture of it but I accidentally sanded through on the part of the tail, so i'll add some layers to the inside. Also, can i add just resin to the outside?


I started on the tank cover also. This is about where i got, i'm thinking going monocoque on it also for a seamless body.
