a buddy from the shop has an f2 600. hes interested in updating his bike with some newer technology.

he was talking about getting a new rear shock for the bike, but that costs like 900 from the factory.

i told him that i had an entire rear end from a 929 that he could buy if he was interested...hes (nor am I) not sure if it will be able to be done.

hes also considering upgrading to a 929 front end on the bike.

im curious if anyone has any experience or knowledge of this.

if it helps the outside measurement on the 929 swingarm mount points is 11.5" the inside is 7.5"

the forks are 50 mm USD. and 29" inches long from the top of tube to the bottom and 28" from the top of the tube to the center of the hole for the axle.

the front end swap shouldn't be difficult at all.

the rear end is another story. i'm sure it could be done, but the two swingarms are just so different, it'd take a fair amount of work to get it in, and to make it work like it should. the linkage angles have to be right, or it'll handle like crap. that's the hardest part.

my bad, the weather here has been almost 70 degrees!! been riding alot, and working. i may have found a midpipe local, i'll let you know.

about that swinger swap. you need measurements for the inside of the swingarm pivot of the frame, the outside of the pivot on the 'arm, the pivot diameter for the frame and the arm, and you need to see if the sprockets are going to line up. may have to space the sprockets to get them straight. the pivot on the 929 arm is probably alot bigger than the f2's, you can either drill the f2 frame, or make a sleeve for the 929 pivot and use the f2 pivot bolt, which is probably easier, as the 929 pivot bolt is completely different than the f2's and it's be difficult to make the 929's pivot bolt work with the f2 frame. the main issue is going to be the width of the 929 swingarm at the pivot vs. the width of the f2 frame at the pivot.

once it's in, then you have to figure out the linkage too, as the f2 linkage is on top of the arm, and the 929's is on the bottom. easier way would be to use the 929's linkage, then make a new upper shock mount on the f2 frame, then it would bolt in just like stock, and you wouldn't have any issues with linkage leverage ratios being screwed up, as long as the shock is mounted at the same angle as it is on the 929.

no problem at all. i'm still actually getting that "how to" guide finished up, alot of that was just cut-n-paste. i don't mind at all.

i know a few people here have f2's/f3's, but if you need any measurements, let me know, there's an f3 at the shop right now i can pull measurements from, and the 929 arm should have the same pivot measurements as the 954, so i might could have a look at what it would take to get it to work.
