Was looking for a 1000cc fuel injected cbr1000rr engine to swap in a Hillman Imp shell I got in a trade and there was an add for a butchered Kawasaki streetfighter 'project'.
It was probably being sold as a puzzle by the description in the add.
Not gonna lie, almost bought it.
Looked fairly decent though as a whole, if it would have ever been finished.

I was poking around the web looking for info on single sider dimensions and found some useful info on Custom Fighters. Then found a thread on a VTR fighter build - same bike as me - so decided to register. I've built about half a dozen fighters in recent years so hope to be able to share with and learn from everyone. Google sent me over to the sight a few times when I was looking at picking up a ninja that had every bit of fairing busted off it but was mechanically sound. Naked 650R lead me to some pretty cool pictures here.

Then I started trying to figure how to wire up one of those lovely ebay special universal speedometers and again google dropped me off on your doorstep. The write ups weren't for the right one but were enough for me to start working it out. Figured I stick around a while, seems to be a good place to shore up my attempts at turning a 2011 400R into a nice little naked/streetfighter.

I also figured it was a good place to give a little back and do a full how to on my particular taming of the zero instruction china special speedo...

Nope the 400r was released in Canada and Australia, I'm in the colder of the two. It's a sleeved 650 along with a few other motor/trans differences, but chassis, breaks, plastics etc are all off the 650r. So those parts unique to the 400 are painful to find, but the rest is taken right from the 650.

Makes for a nice full size bike without the full sized bike insurance rates.

Ya wasn't much info given , let's get it right! Was directed to your site and looked like a chill place to share , learn and find some cool stuff in this venture. I bought this old girl of a bike she's a 1989 zx 10 tomcat in fairly good shape considering it's age! As soon I I saw a streetfighter project I knew that was the shit my girl needed. I will post pics in tomorrow as I have to transfer files onto my iPad. Looking forward to bounce some ideas off u guys and vice versa. I already striped her of most of the plastic and got front end off ready for her winter fighter makeover. So thanks for the welcome and I already like the vibe of this place. Cheers chuck::
