I know there has been lots of questions about the rules but I failed to find any solid details on how street legal a competing bike has to be. Legal requirements are different from state to state, country to country.

Does this contest require the competing bikes to have mirrors, license plate mounts, blinkers....? We all know a streetfighter looks better with out these things. I don't have a problem including them. In fact, I think it adds to the competitiveness.

If this topic has already been covered please feel free to destroy this thread. (just pm me the answers, thanks)

Hope I am allowed to reply here.

I say no mirrors, no directional indicators, but a plate mount, head light and tail light is a must.

Thats all that is required where I live and I think the minimum legality for a bike about anywhere.

Just my 2 Cents. Open for the powers at be to make a ruling but hurry we all need to factor the ruling into our builds.

Cuz I ride with no mirrors alot ?? My brights on all the time, and make alot of noise :LolLolLolLol:

I got headlight, tail light and brake lights, No turn signals on any bike in the front, and i put my plates where ever i can bolt them if i remember to stick on.:nuts:

The only non street legal thing on my bike will be the always on hi-beam and no inspection sticker.... maybe no speedo if there isn't enough for the Acewell group buy.


Where I'm from, you need signals for the blind cagers. And since this will be my daily transport, I'd like to be known that I'm making turns. Shit, if i was able to rig whissling sky rockets on my back pack I would... anything to be seen.

hmmmm....i thought we stated that your bike must pass inspection. which may mean dif. things in dif. places. as steve said he doesnt need shit on his bike but bare bones minimum.

where i live a left hand mirror, blinkers, plate, plate light, and CHain Guard are all required equipment. . . ack.

It should just have the shit you actually need for it to be a ridable bike - lights, license plate. Anything else you would need to make it street legal is just extra money.

I'll put the intergrader kit in the rear for rear signals, but aint putting no plate light, mirrors or front signals on mine

Well, since mirrors and turn signals are stuff most of us skip even if we're legally supposed to have them, they shouldn't be required. My turnsignals are invisible in pictures anyway.

Adam or AB should make a poll:

- Headlight, Taillight, License plate

- All that, plus turn signals

- All that, plus mirrors

- All that, mirrors AND turn signals


I guarantee you the first choice will win.

Well, inspections vary from state to state, so I think as long as it's pretty much road worthy... then it's all good. A lot of people on this sites regular bikes aren't 100% legal anyways....

that's pretty vague though... so we need to figure this out for sure...

as long as your bike is fully operational. i dont care if its legal according to the PD or not. that'll be your problem not mine.

if you want to take the extra challenge of makin that stuff work well on your bike go ahead. if not having it is part of your/your bikes attitude, go ahead with that too.

Make it driveable, mean, and well built! legal is up to you.
