Quick tutorial I made to help people new to the forum thing to post pictures.

You can post any picture you have on your computer to multiple forums using this. There are a LOT of other methods but this is the one I use and it's pretty easy and efficient.. here you go.

STEP 1

Go to www.photobucket.com and sign up for an account. It's free, they don't spam :D

STEP 2

Go to the 'My Album' at the top of the www.photobucket.com main page after signing up and logging in. It usually takes you to your album automatically when you login.

STEP 3

Use this set of boxes at the top to upload a picture. Click BROWSE, and a box will open. Find the picture on your computer and click open (the open button is in the box that opens, not on the album page)

STEP 4

Scroll down in your album to find the picture you want to share with the forum. Click on the text next to here it says "IMG Tag." It should turn grey in like my screenshot above. Right click on the greyed text and 'Copy' it.

Finally, go to the forum you want to post it to. Right click on the reply box and 'Paste' it. It should look like this in the box:

[ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ]
(without the spaces)

PLEASE HIT ENTER BETWEEN THE PICTURE TAGS! It should look like this:

[ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ]
[ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ]
[ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ]

NOT AT ALL LIKE THIS:
[ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ][ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ][ img ]www.photobucket.com/albums/youralbum/yourpic.jpg[ /img ]

All the pictures in my build forum have a small yellow triangle in the upper left corner with a ! in it and a note on the bottom left corner saying "report this image" When I click on the note it says something about inappropriate material.

I was looking thru this thread for an answer and see the sample pics posted here have the same thing!

What's that about???

Thanks
I am trying to add pictures to my album, and it is putting them in the wrong order - Instead of starting with the first pic I posted, it has put that one at the end and all three I uploaded today are in the wrong sequence too. How do I change the order they appear in the album?

the yellow triangle, and corresponding light yellow bar across the pic is from an automatic resizing of the picture (a setting which can be changed in your user control panel) clicking on the bar will change to the original image size.

the report image is a different link, used for reporting images that break cf guidelines, or if youre a pansy and find something offensive :)
All this seams to be PC talk ... I have a mac. my files are too big, I keep cropping them down and still too big. how do I change the pixel rate. or file size? Its already jpeg and I have been cropping the shit out of it. hell I only used my Iphone to take the pic, how high resolution could it be?

Most any image processing / photo editing program that allows you to crop will also allow you to resize. Its just a different command.

Iphone photos can be pretty high res, like 10mp (over 3000 pixles wide); all you really need for web is maybe 1000 pixles wide, max.

I just slap my stuff into google photos web app and grab the preview image url, which is automatically resized.
Sorry had to give this a try from my phone, it's all I got... before i make myself look even more like a NOOB on my NOOB post lol ???

And Its good to know my emoji turn into question marks... That could have got confusing quick! Haha
Hi, My name is Steve and I am a noob to the forum, followed the intro on loading pictures into photobucket but it seems to have changed a lot since the tutorial was made.
Call me thick but I can't get the hyperlink code for the picture and don't understand where I put it when I do get it. Help please as don't want to look an idiot noobie with no profile picture. Thanks Steve Beane
Hi Steve!

The instructions still apply for posting pictures in threads like this one. For your avatar (profile) picture you go into your "User CP" at the top left of the page. Once in the User CP click on "Edit Avatar" on the left side of the page about halfway down. From there you will be able to upload a picture from your computer using the "Choose File" button or enter the URL of the picture.

If you still have trouble let me know and I believe I can put it in there for you.

Welcome to the CF!
