Me too. I like that 80 a lot. But that 85 is still futuristic to this day

I have a soft spot for bikes like that '80. Look, feel, stance...it all builds an attitude that modern bikes dont have but then again that 85 is pretty sweet...I would prolly buy the 85 and kick myself on passing up what appears to be a great gs.

1150 has welded crank as stock, so is more easily converted to pressured air intake.
And it has bigger valves and otherwise better head. Alternator end of crank is beefed and not gonna broke as easily.
Just like carburators are updated . Stiffer frame also.

Aftermarket parts are more easily to 150 then older version.

I sold my 1150 a few years ago it had bags of Grunt but I got fed up with palying the carb dance every new riding season and that's why i moved to fuel injection GSXRs though those EFE's had alot of character
