Nice...
Would like to see what your plans are for this thing...
I've been looking at some of the big bikes lately
That's a deal what are your plans for the old beast?
They are a beast and actually look great with all of the plastic taken off.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it :)
build trike
it has reverse -I think
café racer...well a very big café racer.
mate has too old wings and both are trikes.
look cool.
NO trike!!!

Yes they have a reverse gear. Good call on the trike.
I'm pretty sure the GL1100's don't have a reverse. Those came in when they moved to the 6 cylinder engine, right?

Honestly, I'd just strip the fairing & luggage and ride it. Find a sidecar if you like, would be a fun rig. I just picked up a '77 GL1000 with similar plans (is already naked), paid a lot more (though still cheap), that's what I plan long term.

Reverse was not on the 1100.

Reverse wasn't a "gear " IIRC. Its a function performed by the starter motor being turned backwards. Or some weird ass Honda shit.

Cool bike dude. Sub'd.

Correct (sort of - its done in the trrans rather than reversing the starter motor spin) but the 4cyl bikes don't have that function. Its pretty easy to just get you feet down and push on those older bikes, and (assuming they aren't weighed down with farkle and gear) they are a reasonable weight and well balanced. Weight and power are not wildly far off what you get with other period liter bikes ('77 kz1000 = 84hp/540 lbs, '77 gl1000 = 78hp/600lbs), so why not treat it like an old muscle bike?

Some one should photo chop this thing in a couple of ways just to see what could be.

Fancy does the radio still work
I think so.....it even has a 6 disk cd changer

IF I keep it I may not mess w it too much

I'd have to build a 2nd shed just to put it in though

exactly hao it works on the gl1500 and 1800

the very first 1500's didnt get the reverse...it wasnt until a few geezers got crushed by the 1500 that they said hey lets curb them dropping them in reverse by putting a reverse assist.
it works on a lever and switch. and its a bitch to find the switch on the micro fiche... if it goes bad the bike wont start...

Man I love the Wings...until i break both throttle cables putting on grips...that was a gl1000 though...

did a Stator in a 1200...that was a nightmare. Engine removal. poor engineering on Hondas part

almost let the smoke out of the 1100 i learned on...went out to the garage as it started ti torch at the stator connection. fun stuff.

rode a 1500 for a good while. that was a couch on wheels. had to clean the carbs on it not fun...

Never Really took an 1800 down the road but they seems to be great... one day ill be the youngest 1800 owner

Since we are on about stators... a common problem... I had to do my 1100.

Thing is make sure the connections at that main fuse and stator are clean AND keep your cooling system working. Overheating is what killed mine.

Overheating will get the head gaskets too.

i will pay you 4 times your investment for it!
seems like they are still worth some nice coin on craigslist. Clean it up mechanically and flip it.
