I bought a can as soon as I heard guys on here talking about it, but have yet to start rebuilding the gix motor to need it. I won't even bother to try and paint until the weather gets a lot warmer here in NJ.

you don't have to bake it on but i have my parts in front of heaters to help the process.......

i have never used a rattle can for anything so i had no idea how much i needed......let me tell you....3.....not enough for much........i'll probably use 4 or more just on my frame....

seriously? i've never used more than 2 for a whole frame, even on tube frames where there's alot of waste.

the heaters are a good idea, the finish will get harder. hope you never have to take it off, it ain't fun. even a sandblaster has a hard time with it.

:wtf: :LolLolLolLol: :wtf:

i DON'T wanna know!!

anyway, lol, i normally only do 1 or 2 coats. anything more than that is overkill. it's usually got a really good coverage, unless it's been sitting around a while. as long as the prep is good, shouldn't need to go crazy with lots of coats.
on that note, be carefull if you ever have to touch up anything. i've had problems in the past with the new coat shrinking as it dries and messing up the lower coats. most any touch up i do is with a good quality enamel.

I need to track some of this stuff down, I have to paint my frame swinger and maybe forks soon. you guys keep raving about it but I don't think I've seen it in the local auto shops

probably not gonna find it in an auto parts store. if you have a cycle gear in your area, they usually have some. if not, any bike shop can order it thru parts unlimited.

Yea, bike shops have it !! It's about 8 dollars a can or so. I've used it on the exhaust on just about every used bike i've owned, and it holds up GOOD !

when I have painted things other than headers with it, I wipe it once good after it cures and it looks good and a little black powder stuff comes off onto the rag. I just thought it was because it didn't heat up to cure ????? I dunnnno ??

really? like what? i've never had any problems with it, except with brake fluid, but that'll screw up any paint.

seems i had some issues with something on my fingers after i sprayed some bits on my bike i can't remember what i had gotten on them but it left marks so i took it over to the parts washer and literally washed it off then resprayed it. it is one trait that i use. if i don't feel like masking i can just take some carb and choke cleaner and viola! tiz clean. it does coat even and looks good. i still use it.
