How to do it?

my thread jack from ravens' thread:

But how do I figure out the size to get??

I got my KDX manual now...front:

80/100-21 51M

Rear: 100/100 -18 59M

WTF do those translate into? And I am guessing getting tires for 18" and 21" wheels may be a PIA??

Sorry to threadjack Raven.

80/100-21 51M

80 means 80 millimeters across,100 means side wall is 100% of the across( so side is 80 millimeters) 21 is rim height. 51 m- 51 is load rating m is speed rating. usually theres a tt or tl next to those for tubeless or tubetype

All the motard tires I was looking at last night seem to be for 17" rims...I suppose I would have to get different rims to wanna do this?

yup, new rims are a must. but not new hubs. most of the time you can just buy the rims and have your hubs re-laced with the new rims. excel makes some damn good rims for supermotos.

contact skrooze. he had a set laying around for the longest time.

I didn't even see your thread jack :shrugs:

17's are a must for supermoto. You can have tons of fun just by throwing street tires on the stock rims. They race that way and it is called the sportsman class. Check out supermotojunkie.com and search for your bike, there are a couple guys on there.
Best bet for the wheels would be to see if skrooze still has his set of rims and then you can get a set of spokes from Buchanan wheels. Either lace them yourself or send your hubs and new rims off to them.

Cause what I quoted to start this thread..I deleted to stop the jacking of your thread. :D

This is gonna have to wait...if it was just tires...i'd do it before year's end...but with added costs of rims and what not, It can wait. I really really have to get my fighter done. LOL
