I wasn't sure where to post this. This subforum seemed to be awful small so I decided to put it here.

If you've never been to Barber you really oughta to try and make it. We had a blast. I went with my bud, Eric, to try and sell some bikes, and Crys came along this year. She had a good time but she did NOT do her job which was to make me behave financially. I'm glad.

The result: my next project. A hardtailed 1967 BSA Lightning frame and a 1965 BSA A65. It was quite a weekend assembling these parts. When I first spotted the frame the guy was asking $600 for it and neither of us had a clue what it was. I looked around until I found something that looked similar and started researching and asking all sorts of questions. I was able to get hooked up with the President on some BSA Club and he gave me TONS of info. Long story short, he gave me the crash course on BSA A65's and I just went to work assembling parts. No better place for that than Barber! :D

After two solid days of hunting, walking, scrounging, walking, bartering, walking and trading I was able to get a near complete bike. Grand total of $675.

-The frame is untitled, but is straight, solid and has the correct wheel.
-Engine has good compression, one cracked fin ( easy to get to, hope to weld one one)
-I found a pair of Amal monoblock carbs and some matching velocity stacks
-I really lucked out when I found the missing engine side covers...for $5 each!
-Scored a correct front end in 100% usable shape with...4'' over tubes!
-Found a early BSA front rim that is useable and has a perfectly working brake. Unsure of the year.
-Various other pieces: chrome foot pegs, brake and shifter levers with good chrome, etc.

Now all I have to do is get Hackjob done so I can start on this bike. I honestly can't wait.

Dude, I'm incredibly lucky. The downside to this is that I ended up flaking on the whole Fighter Fest thing while scrounging for parts. TheAndy was nice enough to come by our tent and chat for a couple minutes. I was busy trying to hang the front end on while he was there. My initial idea was to assemble a complete roller and try to flip it as a chopper/bobbed project and make some money while I was there. I had a few hits, but I'm actually pretty glad it didn't sell. I've kinda been missing my old choppa lately and I've been wanting to play with some British iron also. This fills the bill nicely. I have the CB to finish and the ironhead was supposed to be next. But the sporty will just have to wait.
