i found a 1999 suzuki gsxr 600 and would like to build it to be my first street fighter (my sv650 is a fighter but it came as one and i just improved upon that) but there are a couple questionable things i have questions about
well here read the craigslist ad for yourself

I have a 1999 gsxr 600 with under 6500 miles the problem is it needs cluches and a choke cable. The bike has never been Titled from the date of sale I have a MSO paper with the vin and the motor vin on them. I have been told that the bike was a track bike, the plastic and the gas tank are mint, just need to dump it...lets make a deal let me know what you got

so i was interested and called the guy (i erased his phone # but it was on the ad)
well i called him and he says he knows nothing about the bike but he "thinks" it is the clutch because he can start the bike and it runs great (in his words), but when put in either first or second gear the bike immedetly stalls (with the clutch in or out) and when the bike is not running but in gear you can push it without the motor turning over
dose this sound like just the clutch disks, basket or does it sound more like the trans if fucked?

also is a 1999 gsxr even elegable to be a fighter?:knucks:

Hard to say without seeing the bike - and the guy sounds dodgy - but could be a few things:

1: Cut-out switch on the clutch lever - I had this play up on my ZX9 and the bike would start / run fine but when you pulled in the clutch and put it in gear it would instantly die.

2: Side stand cut-out switch - same deal as the clutch one.

3: Can push the bike with it in gear and motor not running?? Maybe it's not actually going into gear (it's not always easy when the motor's not running and he says he knows nothing about bikes...). Or maybe clutch is broke / removed?? (clutches engage by default, not disengage). Tough call on this one without seeing it.

And enrico is right - you can fighter anything........
