Well I actually had a dream the other night "yes while I was sleeping" about how to hook up a handbrake without a master cylinder up top on the bars.

I guess you know your good when you start fabing shit up in your sleep.. lol

Anyways I thought about hooking up an extended clutch cable from a second clutch perch up top all the way to a small mount connected to the rear brake master cylinder or lever..

So I got to thinkin today "Hell why not give it a shot". So I go to where my bike is stored and yank the seat, gas tank and a couple other little things to get shit out of the way and thought.. If I just make a small bracket that could mount ON the threaded rod between the rear brake lever and the master itself.. I can just hook the other end of the cable there and be set..

Dont you know sure as shit I ended up remembering that I had a brand new extended R6 clutch cable in my truck from my LSL kit that I ever used?!?! I couldnt use it for my clutch because it was way too long.. So I mount a second clutch pirch, run the line, and dont you fucking know... the god damn cable stopped right at the rear brake master right where it hooks to the rear brake lever lol.

I know I know

:ttiwwop:

Since my battery was dead in the camera Ill tank a couple pix tommorow. I still gotta make a couple mounts and swap some wiring over to the right side since I had to take off the cluster that hold the turn switch, horn, and high/low beam switch. The funny thing is, is that the clutchers for the right and left side are a mirror image of each other. Im just gonna move my start button and kill switch to the dash and be set.

No loss, just gained a hand brake for free!

haha. thats sick spydy! you know your having good dreams when your setting up trick custom stuff in them!

so, im curious if this method pulls hard enough to get good braking pressure?? i've heard of people trying a second master and complaining that they couldnt get it to pull hard enough to be useful. would a cable brake have the same problem??

:metal:

GL, i was never really into handbrakes and 12 bars either. i can understand/appreciate these things and what they are used for...well maybe a hand brake more than a 12 bar. but regardless, my bike isnt a full time stunter so i dont really need that. even if it was, you wouldnt see me rolling around on my bar at 2 mph. but if i was out doing some highchairs and other no foot on controls tricks, you bet your ass id be rockin a hand brake.

Can you get it to lock up? I was gonna do the same thing but everones tellin my nonono its not gonna work, you gotta have a certine master up top or either it wont work at all or it'll be minty. How's yours feel? Im helpin a buddy of mine re-do his gxxer 1K and in payment he's gonna make me a dual caliper mount (he works at a machine shop) I got both rear calipers already, just need the line and a different master up top. I got a ducati clutch master new sittin right here but I dont think it push's enough pressure threw the line..

I could get an '05 front brake master from a 636, which is a radial master for pretty cheap from another friend. I might go with that if I go hydrolic

The cable has more throw then the rear master (threaded rod) has throw.. And the hand lever is longer then the foot brake lever. So I dont see a problem other then springback and feel. Im just gonna pop on a stiffer pullback spring on the foot lever so it pulls back at the hand better

I hAVEN'T RIDIN IT YET TO SEE IF IT WILL LOCK UP EASY OR NOT BUT IT BITES ABOUT THE SAME AS THE FRONTS. Sorry I'm not yelling i swear, i don't want any trouble  lol

I do need to blead it one more time but from what i undestand this is the ONLY way to get it to realy work right ???

I did need to bleed it with the master loosened and flipped the right way, then flip it over once it was bled, maybee i didn't have to but it bled better that way. I killed myself trying to blead it by myself :Stupid:
I think just about any radial master will work ? I know the gixxer one leaves enough room to run the line and still butt it against the clutch perch. Some are shaped goofy and when you flip them they have shit in the way of the line or the lever :mk:
