Ok, SS hose covers, radiator painted black, headlight houseings painted black, new coolant overflow tank, and if you can tell, I made a casing to go in under the base of the subframe to protect all the electrics and to tuck the rear brake resivour into - it stands out a bit now cus its black, but the whole bike will be black soon.

Disregard the RAM intakes, one is lost and the other looks like crap so they're getting redone soon.

Thoughts?

The braided hose covers look great; I've got some sitting in the garage to go on the SV. I don't really dig the overflow bottle, but if you do, keep it. I love what you've done with that bike. Nice work.

There was a thread about what paint to use for that that I started... don't remember where it was though.
I ended up using High Temp 1500degree flat black from autozone. I gave the sides of the radiator multiple good coats, but I only gave the fins enough to color them, I didn't want to lay it on too thick. The front is not actually painted, it has a mesh cover on it that is painted flat black as well.

The covers I made from Fiberglass. PITA. I'm exploring other options now.

I think I actually replied to your thread about the radiator paint. I was just wondering if you had ordered that paint that I posted a link to. I wanted to see how it worked. I guess I'll just order it and see what how it works.

i think your bike looks super nice. its really coming along nicely!

and i agree you should paint the overflow bottle, and maybe mount it parralel to the radiator. imo.

Thanks for the suggestions on the bottle. Its proving tricky to mount how I'd like, I'll work it out later, its just a small detail.

Over the weekend I mocked up my 636 swingarm, boy does it ever look bada$$ All I need to get it set is a brake bracket made, and maybe a couple bushings. I have to cut off the chain that came with it (520 I believe???) because its too small to fit my sprockets. Anybody need a -I think its 520- chain with only a few hundred miles on it?
I know I could/should just get new sprockets to match the chain, but that cost $, and I am already over my limit on this bike already.

Oh, I have a stock ZZR/ZX6R(98-02) shock for sale now too. I had to put in a ZX10R shock to work with the swingarm. So if anyone is interested... Also I'll have my old swingarm up for grabs too.

I need a 520 chain :) I need a 520 front sprocket too.....Why do you have to cut the chain? It should be routed so it can be taken off.

I'm sure it would. I doubt the zx7r would have come stock with a 520 chain though. So you would have to get a set of 520 sprockets for your bike. And that isnt a bad thing, lots of guys do a 520 conversion on their bikes, saves weight. The chain is just about new. When I got the swingarm it was listed as having only a few hundred miles on it and the chain came with it. I'll sell it cheap if you're interested. PM me

Wow! Awesome, did you build that bottle or did you buy it from somewhere? Also, i notice that you have the inlet and outlet on top of the bottle, now how does that work? I thought the inlet would be on the bottom so the radiator can suck it in when it needs it. Also what did you use to attach it and how? Sorry about all the questions but i got pretty much the same bike and i've been racking my brains trying to figure out the whole coolant bottle thing. Also what handlebar risers did you use? Thanks again.

Thanks for the compliment. Don't overthink on the coolant bottle thing, the simplest things are the best solution. That bottle is just a hair spray bottle that was bead blasted, then I drilled 2 holes in the top. Any bottle will work really. I've seen liquor bottles, vitamin bottles, metal soda bottles. anything. bead blasting just cleans it up a bit.

For the hoses: One is the overflow and one is the feed. The feed line goes in the top and all the way to almost-the-bottom of the bottle. The overflow line only goes in the bottle about an inch.

Mounting... I'm still working that out, right now its a little plate bolted to a mount on the engine, with a metal band and zip tie holding it on... Creative eh? Its crappy. I need to get an exhaust clamp or something to get it mounted better.

The risers don't need to be anything fancy either. Mine are just a Gas Gas set. I went to the local dirtbike shop asked if they had a used set lying around and they sold me them for $15. Risers off of most cruizers will work (just take a look at em first). If they are too short for your bars to clear, you can always shim them up with washers. A washer on the underside is a good idea too.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the ZZR, I'll help ya if I can.
