New here, looking to build my SC28

Long story short when I was in high school my first street bike was a 1994 CBR 900RR, I sold it when I was 18 (20 years ago) and always wished I had that bike back. 2 years ago I was driving thru a neighborhood and spotted a 93 900RR parked under some guys deck, I stopped and asked if he wanted to sell it, but he told me it didn’t run and couldn’t understand why I’d want a bike that didn’t run. Anyway I ended up getting it for 500 bucks and it’s actually in pretty good shape, it’s a little sun faded, plastics are are not perfect, tank has a few dings etc. took it home and went thru the carbs and got it running. Anyway it’s a perfect candidate for my first street fighter build. If you guys could guild me to some companies in the US to get tail sections, belly pans, headlight hardware etc I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks man, I love the look and frame design of the 900rr, they look great naked and make great looking street fighters.
Im pretty sure ebay is as good a place as any for random parts. copart is a good source if you want to buy a salvage bike for parts and have a few bucks to register for the auctions. craigslist will find you,.. stuff... if you want to deal with that scene.

what kinda stuff are you into? might help narrow the search.

First off…Welcome in!

Second…You’re most likely not going to find those parts on a shelf in the US. Somewhere in Europe perhaps as that tends to be a German style it sounds like.

Best thing may be doing some research on fiberglassing techniques and have a go at it. It’ll expand your skillset and give you something 100% unique.

You can drill your top triple clamp for bar risers as some do ($) or find a complete upper conversion from LSL or ABM ($$$).

Gauges are a personal preference. I’ve installed a few Koso’s and also swapped to newer model gauge cluster on one bike I had.

If you want some ground up stuff (alot of banter inbetween though) my WBRW threads were based on the same color scheme you've got, quite a bit of info on swingarm swaps and wheel sizes as well as all sorts of "what fits and what doesn't" in general. Again, lotta pages of just discussion, so, make sure you've got some time if you are going to page through that mess... not sure how many pictures even work on there too.

Drilling the triples isn't that hard, I am struggling to remember if there was ever a write up done on that? I don't think there ever was... none the less, the 900 triples do not give a single shit about being drilled for dirty bars, I've done enough and abused the ever loving shit out of them enough, including tip over's into the bars, to know the triple is the last thing that will go if you are worried about strength among the parts you steer the bike with. I thought I had struck gold on a running, but naked and crashed '93 900RR back in 2011 for 1k, but, I think you got the better deal for a complete one that just needs a little work for $500. Awesome score. Also, if you want more relaxed geometry, the 1991 Honda XR250L/R rear suspension linkage "dog bone" link is a direct replacement but 2.5mm longer and relaxes the rear of the bike enough that it doesn't want to high side, as much. The Bandit 1200 1st gen front wheel is also easy to fit with the speedometer drive from the Bandit in order to gain a cheaper alternative to F3 front wheels and still get a modern 17 inch tire that will help immensely with both tire selection, and overall how nice the bike is to ride. Sure, stock is pretty wicked, but, with the XR link and the 17" front with dirtbike bars (I prefer Carmichael bend mid rise Pro Taper's myself at this age) the 900RR becomes a formidable weapon on the back roads of Wisconsin.
