Just wanted to do a quick intro to the Forum.

My name's John. I have been perusing the site and checking out the bikes and reading the info on here. It is inspiringing and refreshing to see the amount of ingenuity and creativity of the bikes/builders here!

I'll post up pictures when the project (01 GSXR 600) hits the next phase (powedercoating) - right now she's torn down and littered across the garage racking.

Welcome to Custom Fighters :haelo:

Blackin out yer frame?
I'm blacking EVERYTHING I can out to be honest, except the paint job. That is going to be something special.

I'm going to put the 1000rr rear sub-frame on, going to custom fab a front headlamp, swapped the stock forks for 03 750 forks, adding fatbar and risers, and some sort of non-stock, unobtrusive speed/rpm indicator. I want to order a belly pan - or I may just make one myself (its waaay cheaper!). I am toying with radiator shrouds but I want to get the bike together first so that I can get an immediate look at aesthetics as that design element evolves.

My biggest concerns (such as they are) about this project right now are:

1. Sprocket selection. Right now I am sitting on the idea of -1/+2 to give it a bit more low end around town. I think that will be sufficient.

2. Painting the engine. I am not a mechanic and cracking the engine apart to paint it scares the shit outta me. I am continuing my research on paints, but its the actual engine tear-down that bugs me.

3. Posture. I plan on putting in a 10mm washer on the rear shock. I do not know if I should drop the front any to give it a more aggressive stance. On the track, I never did this to the front - I wanted all the ground clearance I could get, plus 10mm rise to the rear end definitely improves Gixxer handling overall.

4. Enthusiam. I have found that I have a very difficult time controlling this driving impulse to happily acquire the parts I need to get this project off the ground - regardless of funds... This is almost as bad as racing!!

I will post up pics in the general forum. Thanks for the welcome!!

John
