So i think i finally found an answer to this question, but when i went to post it, it was gone. must have been during that server crash :(

so...If you could have only one bike to ride on the street forever...any bike....what would it be?

My bike would be a brand new HOnda 1000RR engine, still in the crate. then it would consist of a very healthy list of aftermarket parts, with very little OEM stuff in the mix.

custom frame, swinger, subframe, tripples, pegs, handle bars, levers, crash cage and 12 bar.

ohlins forks and shock in black and flat black.

super light weight rims. wide rear. polished lips.

mbe Johnny 5's head and eyes for my headlight! ( :metal: )

and a whole lot of flat paint!

I think with this question you have to think about reliability and versatility. Jet bikes and turbo fighters are dandy but would you ride across the continent on it? or take it to a girls house or the grocery store?

Me? well right now im just starting on my apocalypse bike. 1200cc sportster engine, long travel suspention, kick start with no battery or electrics at all just about, supermoto tires, high pipes ala flat tracker and a plastic replica of a vintage husky MX tank on it (the square bread box one with the polished bit). I may also custom fab a split tank that will sit where the oil tank was and hold oil and nitro.

It will look like this one but with longer suspention and cleaner because the end of the world doesnt care about street legal

Or like this but with a headlight

I think I would be happy with a Ducati Sport Classic 1000, Triumph Bonnie Thruxton or Buell XB9s, or maybe a Buell tuber. Whatever I chose wouldn't stay stock. I think it would be really cool to trick out the Thruxton with USDs, a beefy swingarm, etc.

I tend to buy bikes with the intent to hang onto them indefinitely...although it hasn't worked out that way, except for my Honda. I plan on keeping that for the rest of my life or until it's not possible for me to ride anymore. But...I didn't buy the Blast with the intention of keeping it forever. I got it to get me used to riding something (relatively) larger again, and it was cheap.

My Street Triple, with a set of shiny black Ohlins forks, some mad mad mad 8 pot calipers, a cute lil supercharged tucked away on the left hand side and a nitrous bottle on the right to balance it all out. Some carbon fibre wheels and Ohlins rear shock and I'll be happier than a pig in shit.
