Ok, I am currently starting a rebuild on a '92 Katana 600 that spent the last part of its life drag racing until the motor blew.
I picked it up on the cheap, and am planning a Fighter that can run consistant times on the track too. I plan on racing the Street ET class so it doesnt have to set any records, just stay consistant and I can dial in the rest.
So far the plan is an '03 or newer GSX-R 1000 motor to fill the void left from the blown motor, No plastics anywhere except Maybe an acerbis headlight (may go with spots mounted on the legs) the only guage I care about is a Tach so I am not sure if I will go aftermarket or try and pick up one to match the gsx-r motor.
Now, my delima.... currently this bike has a "16 yes "16 inch strech on the rear swingarm which equates to around a "75 inch wheelbase. I can see already that it is not streetable like that, so my question to all of you here with expierence is..... What is a good wheelbase on a fighter, that will also be used on the track? should I shorten "10? (that is what I have been contemplating "65 wheelbase) less, more??? my welder is good, and works Cheap, but is slow paced to work it into other projects so this will not be an overnight build, but I hope to have it on the road in '08
Like I said I am open to suggestions
