hi, im new here and there's my bike vtr1000f 98 that i bought from a friend, well atleast it was a bike in a past . Im total noob, doin this kind of work/rebuild for the first time, have only house tools in my garage. So ill appriciate all your tips and help. I didn't know that ill post someday here so i dont have photos of whole event. Im somewhere in middle of my work done. So here it goes. My very own VTR.
this seat was on bike when i bought it . its from ducati. it was really in bad shape. started to work on it . it reminds me "old school bikes" a bit so i decided to keep it.
sooo i bought forks+wheel+brakes from kawasaki for 300 euro. i had to give forks to professionals to stamp middle part from old fork glasses(not sure if i used right term) to new ones, so bearings would fit.
i worked on mufflers little bit, repaired it with my friend and painted it black. i miss front part of exhaust leads. one company is taking care of it.
i rode it for first time and something happened... one exhaust valve in front cylinder head just blowed off... no idea why... so it slowed my project and made it more expensive too bad i didnt take a photo.
i did today a bit of bodywork, tank looks really nice, need to work on few details. front fender is really simple, cut from R6 fender, looks good too. but i got a bit problem with tail, its all crooked (right word?) any ideas how to get it flat? should i use a piece of wood with sandpaper?
guys im wondering if i should keep exhausts as they are , that mean two big cans under tail, or make one short can near swingarm. what is it going to do with sound of the bike ? will it be louder coz of changing from 2 cans to 1 can ? is sound louder when i shorten the can ? no experience with this stuff
The mufflers are HUGE for sure....I would cut them in half to start...and a relocation with switch to one pipe will save weight and clutter on the bike. DOOO WORK!
since i was bored and unpatient for answers about shortening cans, i did it yesterday. it looks pretty cool i think. Back than i had ordinary non functioning VTR, now i got more moto GP style unfunctioning VTR
chop chop
ehh... called with guy that's repairing one valve for me on front head and it will take aproximatly 1 more week... soo im still w8ting. Ah i forgot, i left light on, so my only work on bike now is to recharge battery.
