Always wrap from the silencer end towards the exhaust ports, this will ensure the overlapped joints allow water to run off rather than running under the overlap. this will help mild steel headers to last somewhat longer. I use stainless lockwire and lockwire pliers to secure the wrap. You can get a much tighter fixing with lockwire rather than the stainless rape ties. As has been said soak the wrap before applying it, and once it is all done and the exhaust refitted, run the engine up OUTSIDE and let the wrap burn in. If you run the motor in an enclosed space you will choke yerself silly as the wrap burns in. Also make sure you do not have any little oil leaks from either the sump bolts or the drain bolt, as the wrap will absorb the oil and smoke like fuck when you fire the bike up.
