I'm into Yam. XS650's. My dad had a 53 A10 BSA 650 and I've got a 72 BSA 650 Lightning basket case. Since you already picked up the front end and the rear end off a later date crotch rocket I assume you are going to make the Yam. XS650 into a street fighter [after all that's what this sight is all about]. What all do you have planned for it?

im going for a modernesque street tracker.other that the suspention and wheels. im getting a flattracker rear fender setup and what not from omars(http://www.omarsdtr.com/stXRWS.html). the biggest effort will be an the motor.(if i can afford it) ive got a log list of motor parts i want to get from mikesxs.com(http://www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-engine.php?category_id=3.5) that runs about $1500. it includes a 750 bore kit, cam, hi volume oil pump taller 5th gear. ss valves and a hole list of little doodads. and also some mikuni carbs kit fromsportingforless.(http://www.sportingforless.com/VM36mm-carb-set-for-yamaha-p/c02.htm) im hoping to make 75ish horses at the wheel. i want it to be a clean build. have people confuesed abut what year and model and era. the bike is.
im also going to be trying to lighten it up as much as i can. cutting off stuff i dont need, like the center stand, starter motor, runnig a smaller battery,ect...

Sounds like a plan!! The Yam. XS650 makes a real cool streettracker. I've noted that Omar has quite a few aftermarket goodies for the XS650.

you know as soon as you said modern touches i thought of using some sort of aftermarket shock for the rears

maybe some front shocks off of a quad would look good. just to get away from those old worn shocks from 82 . just my 2 cents

or maybe from a 250 r
that might be the cheeper route. mikesxs has some modern looking shocks with resivors,http://www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-suspension.php?category_id=6.1, but i also like these old school hammer head shocks.for omars http://www.omarsdtr.com/shox2.html
