so due to lack of funds and distractions last month i finally got to ride this bike. it went to inspection and failed, need to fix turn lights this week and reinspect it.
anyway, decided to change the oil. ended up with messed up bolt thread in oil pan. had to remove pan and rethread the hole for bigger plug.

then after some riding around, i had to take my brother home. well... he is not the smallest of guys so after right turn exhust scraping i got sick of that issue, and decided it is time for me to redo the pipes. so that's what i did last friday evening. here is the pics

this is before, as you can see it sits too low and makes it hard to lean bike on that side, therefore i'm affraid to lean it on that side

i cut down previous manifold into pieces and flipped Y pieces i had, so it is going up (iļl try to explain as i dont have pics. now the upper pipe is straight and lower makes bend(two pipes per side)) you can see it in picture

other side with bend for can

finished result

but to be honest i want a different pipe now
some shitty dark pic since it got super dark at the time i got done

also since Ildze is not really keen on riding with me i'm kinda considering maybe i should put on a different tail on bike.

gonna have to try photoshop to look how does it fits bike in lines together

Re: Rex's 'Amelia' the story of vfr750

Posted symptoms on rc24 owners group. Guys there suspected that starter clutch is dead. Theres one catch, its a 86 part only. So hard to obtain, i have lead on engine parted out in poland. Gonna take the cover off to check, but if its the case and i cant find one. Bike is fucked. Feel depressed at the moment. If tgats the case gonna take some parts off, part out the rest and build two seated rc36 from frame up with same front fairing and 400rr tail, DSSA from fireblade and some other parts i have around. But first i have to see the damage.

Starter clutch dead? That would have been giving intermittent starting for a while before failing, and wouldn't likely cause the bike to die when running, much less cause a no spark condition.

If it failed no spark while running, could be a bunch of stuff. Ignition pickup, CDI, coils. Main fuse on starter solenoid or ignition fuse (but if so then why).

Any of the safety switches maybe? My cb-1 would spin on the starter but not run if you turned off the kill switch.

It's also easy to not see a spark especially if you've looked at it in daylight.

Glad the starter clutch seems to be ok. Yeah, one of my CB's was like Amorti described on the kill switch. Cranked, but no spark. The switch had corroded inside and wasn't making contact. Opened it up, cleaned the contacts and hit the road again. Come to think of it, had the same thing on my KLR. Hopefully it's something simple like this.

Kill switch actually could make sense. I never use it, so it could grow something on it

Nobody seals those switches as good as they should. I've taken to greasing them up good inside. When I bought the FZ I tore it down and greased the whole wiring harness before I ever rode it . I see tons of old bikes with burnt harnesses that could have been prevented with a little electric grease. Shame they don't do it at the factories.

I've once found the carcass of a tiny spider right in the switch, blocking the contact. Guess it moved in overnight, and regretted that when I want to ride away in the morning.

a bit of a long time span post... last summer i got kinda tired of sad plastics, my shitty wrap and ended up taking all of the fairings off, fixing the tabs, sanded and primered

i was about to paint it, until i decided to mod front fairing some more. still have some work to do on front, but rest of parts is ready for paint

anyway, so i glued in 10mm steel rods for shape

some cardboard for backing material

and outside first part was done

trimmed the pieces

look way better

then up to clean up inside and lay some support under

now clean up outside some, and lay another layer. check again for symetry prep for paint. thinking about RAL7031 (yes i like boring colors)
