Rick954fighters' 2002 954 Fighter Project Discussion

First off let me appoligize to everyone because I am one of those "late entries". I didnt mean to but with the holidays and work and not to mention being a newer member I honestly overlooked the contest. Ok well let me start with the bike, I purchased it about a year and half ago as a stunt bike and reformed it to its stock being and shortly there after me being a bonehead I let my buddy take it to the gas station and he crashed BIG. First gear at 70 into a curb, then being Medflighted to Boston he was there for 7 weeks and my bike was out of commision for about two months.

After much reconstruction to get the 954 to be street legal I decided just to say screw stock and go with something different. Thus came to be the 954 fighter. First off I stripped everything down which at this point im becoming pretty good at third time is always a charm, and sold a lot of salvageable stock parts (i.e. upper, lowers, stay, etc.). I have a good leg in with the project but still have a lot more to complete until I happy with it.

I have put LSL bars and an LSL triple tree on with Spiegler front SS braided brake lines and extended throttle and clutch lines. I chopped the front lower stay I have and made an ugly cluster holder, and got some cheap lights for riding in this rather warm January weather.
Much more is to be done but I'll keep everyone posted with newer (better quality) pics and mods. Thanks!

So far so good guys! I'll get some more pics in soon, just been wicked busy. Lets see, I have made a instrument cluster bracket to retain the cluster which I thought would be my biggest hurdle, but it looks mint! I have also mounted up a acerbis cyclops headlight which is all wired up and also looks pretty nice. I'm chopping the number plate down alittle bit because it flex's back from the cluster, so that should be done within the next wek or two. Other than that I'm setting up to maybe get a new tank and put my lowers back on to act as a belly pan? I dont know how it will look but we'll see.

Alright, You guys will probably be mad but i dont have any pictures yet, but hopefully soon! A ton has been done so far with the 954 project. I picked up a new tank off ebay for very cheap money and it has totally changed the look of the bike. It is now red and black which flows nicely with the rest of the parts. I had a ton of stuff powder coated including my swingarm, which I just pressed all new bearing's into and installed it yesterday. I bought a new factory FX Honda cross-bar pad, and a K & N air filter. I now need a set of tires and to get my bike dyno tuned because I just bought a PCIII off eBay for next to nothing! Stay tuned and hopefully I'll have some pics soon!

Alright I put up some pictures but they suck. Sorry but I figured Id let everyone know how the build was coming. I just mounted some new conti-attacks on saturday and gave the bike an oil change. I wired up some old directionals and got it ready for the road this past weekend. I took it out with about 20 or so other bikes this past weekend and man did I get a good response from everyone! I'm pretty pumped that the fighter is almost done but I do have a few other little things I have to get done (like get my digital camera out and take some pics!). I found out that I needed to run a new brake line hose from the rear resevoir because it was leaking all over my nice new powder coated swingarm:mad: ! Thats now taken care of and I also need to re-wire my horn because the stock wire length is way to short which I expected. I am going to fab up something cool for my front turn signals and kinda intergrate them into the Acerbis number plate and see how that looks. Other than that the 954 rips nicely as a fighter and I dont think I'll ever go back to clip-ons or anything stock!

Ok still cell phone pics but whatever. I mounted up my chain gaurd, wired up the horn and intergrated the front turn signals along with a bunch of other shit im probably forgetting. I have about 400 miles or so on it since the build and Im pumped because its an amazing mix between sheer power and its sport breed but so comfortable like a sport tour bike should be:party: ! I just rewired the bank angle tip over switch and bypassed it completely so I can be back up on one wheel. I have been having some life threatening issues with the bike shutting off in wheelies almost at balance point, which wasnt cool so i decided to get rid of it all. Its a never ending project so Ill keep everyone updated.

Let me know what you guys think so far?

A few pics from our ride to the beach on Monday. I got a nail in the rear tire which sucks and got pulled over but no worries. Next maybe will be a cage or something because I'm really starting to like stunting:rock: ! We'll see how that goes. I'll keep everyone posted as always.

I have been wicked busy for the past few weeks due to moving into a new house, but i do have some more pics and news. I rear ended a mini van a few weeks ago doing a 50 ft. stoppie due to the fact that im a fuckin retard:Stupid: ... So I didnt do too much damage to the bike except smashing the cluster and crossbar into the back of the vehicle and jamming up my ignition from my cluster banging into it. The obvious damages like snapping my foot peg and shiter nub also happened but on the bright side I'm ok and the damage is just about fixed with doing some trades to some local salvage yards for my cluster and peg. On the not so bright side, I didnt have insurance and to fix the vehicle is going to cost me $1,500!! Once things slow down for me I'll be sure to take some finalized pics and post them up in the other forum. Heres some post crash pics.
