Subframe made of 1" x 1/4" aluminum tubing, 21" from subframe to tip of tail. Its a loop type subframe, so it loops around the back like this

Do you believe my subframe is perfectly safe to ride 2 up with? If welded to the frame just like the OEM setup.

Take the curve out of the support piece. I would assume you are using a higher grade alum like 6061, 7075, or even 2024?
mine is similar to that except for the curve in the lower support and mines made from cheap box steel. i ride 2 up all the time. and ive lifted the back of the bike off the ground with it. as long as the person doing the welding has the skill it should be fine

Yea, its all 6061, go big or go home lol.

Yea, except steel is typically stronger than aluminum, but thats why I went with 1/4" wall lol.

Thanks guys,
Z
the wall thickness on mine is 1mm if that. lol.
s shapes buckle, archs dont. the s thing can work if its good quality and super strong.

I think it looks funny with a curvy bottom support, and a straight top. they should both be curvery

personally I would just get another gsxr frame that matches, and flip it around so you use the part of the frame that runs under the tank to make the sub. then the curves and shape are all uniform, and if you did it well enough it might look factory. thats just me though.

As said, take the curve out of the support and you should be fine... On a more important note, who is the chick in your avatar?
