What does the + and - numbers mean. Are the free eye to eye length externally adjustable? Or would you have to break into the shock and change things around? Or is it not even adjustable?

These shocks are adjustable for length, I am thinking this is the difference in mm from standard, shorter or longer.

I think the key here is finding something that's a similar length for a bike that's a similar weight. I was looking at fitting a gsxr1000 shock to a gsx1100g, but there's a 20mm and 70kg difference. Will fit but risky. A better choice is gsf1200 with a 5mm and 30kg difference. Not perfect but better. I'm going down the route of getting the old shock refurbished if possible. The chart seems reasonable in my instance.
