Oh come on bro. These are ridiculous questions. 916 seat = 916 subframe OR 916 seat with custom subframe. You cut the original subframe off....I think you might need to weld a new one on.

Unatec makes a 916 style seat that bolts right onto the slingshot subframe..

yeah, but it sits way low, and doesn't look right. the stock slingy subrames just sit to low IMO to make anything look like it's meant to be there.

to the OP, fabbing up a subframe isn't hard, and if you're not concerned about the weight, steel is very easy to work with. the stock duc subframe is steel anyway, so it's not like you'd gain anything by using it. then, there's always the satisfaction of being able to say "i built that mamma jamma by myself" :D

Thank you. lol

ye that might have sounded stupid i meant will i be able to remove all traces of where the old subframe was welded to frame.
No, you can cut through the subframe but it will be impossible to remove all traces. See subframes are joined to the frame with an indestructable compound that resists grinders, sand paper and axes. The only way to do it is have a scientist with you to talk you through the table of elements and hahaaha just kidding man.

Get out your sawz-all and your die grinder and some sand paper and make it vanish.....

Make a new subframe or make the 916 subframe work.

Got any pics of your bike? I get a hard on for old gixxers.

a cut-n-shut r1 race tail. it was waaay too wide for the bike, so i took about 3" out of the middle, shortened it a bunch, 'glassed over the seat opening, and ran a 1/4" race pad for a seat. comfy? never.
