It might be if you can do it yourself. I can't see any problems, as long as the tooth profile is good and the edges are free of burs. Milling one face would probably be easier, but might skew the chainline more (which may or may not matter, might even be desirable) and would likely require angle milling the tips.

Sprockets are pretty simple, some bicycle guys make em from plate with a drill press and sanding belt.

I was thinking either having it milled or turned in a lathe. Been looking for a 520 sprocket for my vfr hub, but the only 3 I've found in months of searching are over $100 each and none of the companies will ship them to my apo address.

Here I found you a steel 520 sprocket for $50.

Milling would be fine. Take all the material from the out facing side. Not the side that mounts in. Why do you want to go to 520 so bad

Peister: Only doing the 520 to match my other brand new front sprocket, and chain.

Blenson: thanks for the link, I'll have to call them and see if they will ship to my address. Seems that's the biggest setback I've been facing.

Good question, and I can figure that answer out in the morning, I have a 530 and a 520 sprocket in the garage. I'll check the sizing out and see what it look like.

Maybe the 600 series have a difference pin spacing than the 500 series(i.e: 630- 530)and the 500 series are just different widths? Not trying to hijack here, just trying to learn. :)
pretty much

Looking into other sprockets that might fit. Getting my current sprocket milled isn't practical...
