Anyone have a good guide of which stems can be swapped out for which? And I mean, just the stem...not the tripples. Sadly, ronayers only shows the stem as one unit with the lower tripple.....so it makes it hard to cross ref.

also another problem. everybody and their brother told me a bandit and early 90's gsxr would just swap stems. so i did and sure enough they did swap and bolt right in. but noone ever saod anything about the steering stops the bandit has a nipple that sticks out as a stop but the gsxr hits the frame as a stop. so you need to take that in account to.

Yeah, basicly that's kind of a common sense thing. Anything with a different frame will have different stops. Just something to keep in mind.

Doug, for stem swaps...build it. lol I've never seen anything. The only thing I could imagine is finding out bearing sizes and matching up like that. But you know how it is. The bike crowd doesn't mess with measurements, just model and year.

What stems you looking to swap? Maybe go down to the stealership see if they have any info (doubt it) or maybe a model they have in you could take some quick measurements off with a set of dial calipers or something?

dealership wont be able to tell you anything except for, like TPD said, year and model...and if ur lucky they'll crossreference to see what other bikes, from that maker, that part was used on.

but you wont get any measurements, theres no specs listed in microfiche.

I think I have a 750 lower, with no stem in it. I may wanna swap over the stem from my 600 trees..and use 750 forks. I am 87% sure the heads of the frames are the same, hopefuly, therefore, the stems should be swappable( is that a word?) LOL

wait is this a gixxer to gixxer swap from similar year ranges? those are a direct swap, no stem change needed.

But with different trees...ie, 45 mm vs 50mm top, 53mm? bottom..the stems might be the same, but I will have to trans plant from one set of trees to other, which I may or may not have laying around. LOL

if you're doing a fork swap, you'll need to swap the trees. If it's similar year gixxers you can use the old stem or the stem from the other trees. what exactly is the question? for example, "i want to put '02 gsxr750 forks on my '03 600, what fits?".
