Katana streetfighter build from ICELAND

Hi there!

I'm really new to this streetfighter thing and stumbled upon this site when looking for ideas for a bike I just got.

First of all, my name is Geir (equivalent to "Gary" in english) and I'm a 23 year old Icelandic viking boy. 198cm tall and weighing in @ 105kg's at the moment for you detailed guys :D

I've owned two OEM bikes before this one ('06 R6 & '09 GSX-R 600) but I wanted something to make "mine" so I got my hands on a bike that needed a bit of love. I also have a E39 BMW who's getting a LS engine when I have the time but I decided to make a bike for this summer :)

So as I knew nothing in particular about bikes at all, I thought I just got my hands on this Suzuki GSX-R 750 '90:

I was told they exchanged the OEM plastic for some other year so I just knodded and drove home with the bike, but when I took off the plastic I noticed the "frame" wasn't what I remembered from the bikes I found on this site. So I ran the license plate number through the DMV and it had the same factory number and registration I was told but when I "googled" the factory number stamped into the "frame" it said it was a Suzuki GSX750F "Katana". I tried finding some info on this and it looks like an old owner had got into a crash or something, found a new "frame" with a body but used the GSX-R engine. After some small amount of thinking time I decided: Fuck it! Let's do this. So so far I got most of the body off:

So this is what I've got so far but I really just got it to the garage like 3 hours ago and had dinner before I got started so yeah, not much time for it yet..

But I'm a SUPER newb in this stuff so any help, suggestions and ideas for parts I can buy for a mean ass streetfighter build are very sought after by me lol.

Hoping for a good time!

Best regards:
Gary

Take your time most folk spend as much time looking at there project thinking what to do as they actually do working on it
Use cornflake boxes to make mock up parts before you go making stuff that way you'll save time in the long run
Iceland is an awesome place I went there about 12yrs ago, top people too

198cm is 6'6", for our American friends. What do they feed you guys in the cold North??

The frame on these can tend to look awkward, but where there is a will there is a way. With the size of you, you can actually have that jacked-up tail which the SF crowd loves and still use the bike.

How many months of riding do you get per year? I've been caught in snow a couple times before and it scared all hell out of me. Or do you get spike tyres for bikes??
GSX-R..Its not, it is GSX-F ( or american way Katana ) but keep it go on id like that frame
G
Yup frame is 88 750f & originally had the 748 engine going from the frame number, everything else seems to be from the same bike from the pics so i'm wondering if there are actually any R parts there at all ?
there are numbers on the block you can look up and on the carbs also im not positive buy im pretty sure the gsx-f ran smaller carbs and somebody correct me if im wrong but i think the gsxr carbs are 38s

gsxr carbs can be all sorts of sizes depending on year & model :)

It's what I was told, but I got this bike for a good bargain so if it's "just an F" then it wont bother me because I love smooth riding as well lol. But I'm just gonna go with the 750F idea until I find some more info, this bike stood in a garage for 10 years, it has about 14k miles on the clock. Where can I find replacement parts like if I wanted to make the engine like new?
Now I've been thinking about colours for the:

Tank, plastics, frame, wheels and engine

And what I've got so far is a very dark camopattern for the tank and plastics but I'm short of ideas about wheels, engine and frame. Wouldn't you think the best way is to keep the fram black? :)

The bikes been on hold for now since the car needs a bit more attention for now. Still trying to decie if I should use a tail from a younger bike or build my own.. But you should def visit again, the bike and car scene here is getting bigger every year :)
