Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

The lamps are sealed, yeah.
I'll be running regular Halogen.
Found em at a local car parts retailer.
Nothing fancy.
Happy to help.

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

Loved the ninja's since I was a kid myself.

My father just bought himself a Piaggio Vespa 125. Super GT 125 ie
A fuelinjected, watercooled Vespa.

My kid loved it right away. Man he was mad when we tried to get him of the bike.
Gotta love it thou, siting there on the scooter, making engine noises at age 1,5.

Also bought myself a watercoolant bottle for the overflow.
This is a aluminium bottle with 0.75l (0.19 gal) with a resin coating on the inside.

Had to put some aluminium tubes in the top to make it work (hopefully)

The long tube is from the radiator, so it can pull the water back if needed.
The short one is to drain the bottle if it gets full.

Used a glue type, kind, that supposedly glues everything, and is good on vibrations.
Used this same type of glue when i mounted my 7" screen in the beetle dash.
And the screen is stuck, and that is good.

All done. Now the glue have to set before I mess around with it.
The glue needs about 24 hours to set properly.

Also bleed the front break after fitting the new, longer yamaha brakeline.
Works like a charm, and the breaks works perfect.

I'm wondering wether I will ditch the koso style gauges, and rip apart the stock ones.
Stuck the stock tacho on the bars, and I kinda like it.
No pic of the tacho setup yet. I'll have to sleep on it to decide what to do with it.

Used lower res pix this time, hope that is ok. The details aint so good, but then the pix would not take up so much bandwidth for those with low bandwidth, and look better for the thread size-wise

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

Just f'ing with yer brains mate.

Been doing some work on a headlight fairing
Started out as a cardboard skelleton, then chickenfence wire
Then papermache

Got the basic shape I wanted.
Looks a little like a frankeinstein head.
Yeah, I started to doubt my basic design, and follow the frankeinstein path.
But decided to carry on.

Then started laying down some clay to build up a bit more shapes.
Two reasons for this. The papermache is a pita to use when molding with fibreglass.
And the papershit aint that good for the details I want.

The shape is getting somewhere.
Starting to look a bit like hulk shape.

Getting towards a finished shape before molding.
The Idea is something like a alien/medivel helmet look.
The next thing is to smoothen it out as much as I feel is adequate.

Next up with the headlight setup is to lay down some fibreglass, and some sand and bondo, before priming.

I also fitted the overflow bottle this weekend.

Gotta move the bottle when I start the bellypan, so i didn't make a permanent bracket for it yet.

Also, the thoughts of using the stock gauges still is stuck,
and I think it woiuld fit tightly between the tripple and the mask.
Details about this later when i start working with the fibre glass.

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

that looks like it has some real potential! Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Sorry to thread jack/be an ass but...
The use of a "face" for the protection of the actual face on a helmet was more characteristic of the japanese samuri than it is the european medieval period helmet. The "armet" is the helmet that is probably most common from the medieval period (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armet).

Either way, I think I know what you meant and I am still really excited to see where you take this!

How big of lights are you going to be able to put in the eyes?

cheers,

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

Sorry about the bad english description. I'm like most "foreigners" bad at english.
No problem on the mini-jacking ;)
It is supposed to be an alien mask, with the pointy sharp edges inspired by medivel.
Not directly medivel. I think that is more of a correct description.

The lights I'm going to use is 55mm to the inner reflector.
Well, that is the plan so far with the lights.

I was searching for some projector lights, and after searching high and low, I didn't find anyone cheap enough that was e-marked. Trying to keep this bike as street legal as possible.

Anyone got any good suggestions on the blinkers?
I was thinking of bar-end blinkers, but then I can't use bar-end mirrors.
A combination of these would be perfect.
The problem is that I haven't found any combined.
I might have to fabricate some?

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

ego, your english is excellent. if you had not said anything, it probably would have taken a lot longer for me to notice that you are from Norway! haha!

I really like those lights and can't wait to see them mounted up.

now, for your blinkers & mirrors. you could figure out a way to creatively use "bolt leds" with your bar end mirrors. Or you could use the bar end blinkers with mirrors that mount in a different way. (a clamp on instead of an in-bar-plug)

I hope one of these is an option for you.

cheers,

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

My english is some kind of bad, due to the norwegian form to set up a sentence.
You as a german, would probably not notice, since our languages use some of the same setup.

As of the blinkers.
Thanks for the links.
As mentioned in my last post, I want to keep the bike as road-legal as possible.
So those led blinkers are out of the question.
I could make some horns on the mask, that really is blinkers thou.
Clamp-on mirrors could work, I thing I've seen them at a local shop somwhere.
But then i need bar-end blinkers that have a longer barend insert thingie to make it work.

Most likely, I'll mount a set of small blinkers on the bottom tripple.
Gotta se what I can find first.

Oh man, waiting for the clay to dry, is like watching paint dry, or grass grow, or wahtever suits you best.

Getting Exited to finish the bike, and my license.

Just bought myself shoes, pants, wind deflector for the neck, and a top-hat for the bike.

I already have:
Airoh Helmet
Lindstrand STR Mistral Leather jacket.
Bought:
Lindstrand STR Lizard Textile pants.
Falco 967 ECO Boots.
Bullfighter neck warmer thingie
Bullfighter top-hat.

Drewling on a matte black Zeus helmet.
But the Airoh helmet I already got, have to do.
The only thing I need for personal Protectiongear now, is some glowes.
Haven't found any that fits "like a glove" yet.. ;)

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

nice gear! sux to hear about the clay, just be patient (easier said than done, right? haha!).
I will stand by my evaluation of your english as good. I was born and raised in the USA and have only recently moved to Germany for work. But you are correct, German and english is fairly similar. (although sometimes I forget which words go with which grammer and I wind up saying things that confuse my boss. haha!)

anyway...
I am not sure what road legal is in Norway, but you could also look into creatively mounting some LED pods to your mirrors or triples.

cheers,

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

Road legal is e-marked.
And a sertain distance apart, and viewable from serain angles.

An idea: Use some CBR integratable turnlights, and use em as "horns" on the mask.?
Well, time will show when the right blinkers arrive.
And the right mirrors.

Thanks, I like the gear myself.
I really don't like the full suits that most R-bikers use.
Seems uncomfertable. But that is my opinion.
The nice thing about Lindstrand (And Halvarson) -gear is that they interlock between the jacket and pants. Making it to a full suit, without making it look like a full suit.
The Jacket and pants also got ajustable safatypads, and removable inner "stuffing"
Making it versitale in both cold, and hot weather.
And they are supposed to be waterproof, AND breathable.
There is some kind of a membrane somewhere in there.

The clay is getting drier. Still waiting for it to dry.

Any suggestions on what to use to avoid the fibreglass to stick?
Sunscreen, Vaseline, Sour-cream. Baby-oil, Beaver-milk, etc?

Re: EGOtrip's "Bike Name" bike

Thanks dude. I think that will be the final shape. It is kinda bigger than the regular masks, but I think it will suit the bike quite nicely. It will hide most of the area between the top and lower tripple, pluss up to the bars, to hide the gauges.

I believe the huge mask will compensate for the shortness of the bike, maintaining the "massiveness" of the bike. And it is not a copy of anyone else's design, nor the shape, or the size.

Sorry for your loss dude.

Aint the stock 1gen engine (possible later too) a chopped down v8 from the 964?
That should ease the conversation. :p
