Still no (new to me) stroker finding it's way into my garage yet :(
I have let some good deals on a few 250 SP versions go, as I am trying keep the money saved for a 500.
Have bid on 3 RZV500's but due to the way I have to bid....I lost out by only $50 to $100 each time. A deal on a clean RG500 was going good, until I asked for a video of the bike running, and have not heard a word since from seller.
Garage is very quiet.... have become very lazy it seems since I moved.

Wired up my Zeel ignition for the RGV VJ23....
....put alternator on daughter inlaws taurus...from under the car
....and now going to pull van in garage to get it ready for my trip to Chicago in February.
My Left for Dead project GS1000 was accepted as a bike for the Cycle World show there.

Snow on the ground....videos will have to wait till spring at this point.... :(
But....

I will video the introduction of a new member of the garage family, when it's delivery date is reached.
The beginning of the end of my long term dream.

I'd move a place where I could ride all year with a garage like that! Although, looks really good for hibernating during winter :D
I felt kinda sorry for the cutch there.. or is it fine to change like that?
Not sure what you were hearing...?
Bike has a dry clutch....so that makes noise....?
Or high RPM...?
The bike was designed by the factory to be beaten to death .....It doesn't go slow well.

The start of a long 3 month process is in gear....

I said fuck it....I'm tired letting these pass through my fingers...
This one is now officially mine....just 6000 miles away and a lot of paperwork ahead.
Had to be an aluminum frame RZV....no steel RZ or RD....So Japan was the only place to find one.

It started here.....

No biggie, sounded like you were keeping the throttle pinned and grinding the clutch on the changes :) But like you say, it's engineered for abuse ;)

Speaking of use, how are these things handling compared to newer bikes? Only ridden two "similar" bikes, (barely idling around on a monster 132rwhp RG500, and had a small run on a RGV250), but both had modern gsxr forks/etc...

Holy shit, congrats on the new bike!

No grinding involved...

I've never been on anything that handles like my RGV VJ23.... Best handling bike I have been on ever...better than my RS250. But I havent had a chance to ride that many new bikes....I would say a Daytona 675 with the ohlins suspension has that same (wired directly to your brain/bike and you as one) sort of feeling...but the RGV feels so damn light.... (very similar to a TZ250 from what people who have owned both have said)...I've been on demo rides with R1's and GSXR1000's but thy are way more twitchy than the VJ23 (obviously the big bikes have WAY more power as well)....but then again, that was only for a few short demo rides.

The RZV500R.....basically a big old tank....like my GSXR1100G
....or that's what i'm guessing anyway

Naomi in Japan is the middle man for my bidding in Japan and she also is the one with the knowledge on exporting.
My bike is now in her shop, and after the New Years holiday week there...the bike will get boxed and shipped out....literally....

It's a lot of work to do this, but in some cases it's the only way ...........

From Miyabee's shop in Japan, to my shop over 6200 miles away....

Took a bit of work getting the front wheel on by myself.....but I got it on two wheels now.
Not going to tear into it, until I figure out what direction I want to go....will probably try to get it running this weekend though....?
It is definitely going to be a money pit no matter how deep I go into it, I'm sure.

Motor is out.....time for some major cleaning, then back together after I check engine over

Leak down test to check crank seals.....and compression test...
Might still pull cylinders off if everything is ok so I can clean up the chambers and powervalves, with new seals.

Moving slow on the RZV...but still moving.
Have decided after checking engine out, it will get cylinders rehoned and new rings
Bore still has almost all the original crosshatching, but the lack of miles (6400) has meant the bike was setting long enough to get some rust in the bore.
Leak down showed seals to still be in very good condition though luckily.
