Those are a grooved slick. They use alot of those in superbike when its not quite that wet. Usually only see those around factory teams. If its wider than your stocker you will hate it for handling.

A 190/55 tire would be taller. It will steer quicker and be more curved.

If i remember correctly ??

The second number is the percentage of the profile hight /to the total with of the tire ??

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.:nuts:
Bad explanation

The tire in the pic looks like a race rain tire.

Nope, that's right 190mm, sidewall height is 55% of that =~105mm, whereas a 190/50 has sidewall height of 95mm. Put on a 17" rim, you've got an overall diameter of 25.27in for the 55 versus 24.48in for the 50. Steering shouldn't be affected as it's the same width (?)...

And anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but can you even get the same width in different sidewall sections? I thought with most tires, each width only had one option for height.

The way the tire measurments work is

The first number is the section width of the tire in mm. This is from the tire edge to tire edge.

The second number is the side wall height around the diameter of the tire. This is measured as a percentage of the tires width.

Last number is the rim diameter.

example: 190/55-17

190= 190mm width from edge to edge.

55= 55% of 190mm. witch measures 104.5mm diameter/ 52.25mm sidewall height.

17= 17 inch rim diameter.

If you want to find the over all tire diameter. Use this formula.

Section width / 25.4= section width in inches. multiply by sidewall percentage, x2, add rim diameter.

ex: 190/24.5= 7.48

7.48 x 55% or .55= 4.11

4.11 x 2= 8.23

8.23+ 17= 25.32

25.32 is the over all tire diameter.
